Being new to the 300Z scene, it always amazes me how much Nissan packed into the front end of those cars - the engine bay, nose cowling, behind fenders... LOL! :ohno:

Thats because they didn't pack anything into the front end really, They designed the VG30DETT before the Z32, once the VG30DETT ran a few successful seasons (under the hoods of various Z31s) of racing and passed all the testing the Z32 was designed literally around the engine. :bigthumb:

1) If you don't wear safety glasses under the car, especially while grinding, you are an agent of Darwin.

2) You don't need to grind the pinch weld to get the fender off. I've removed many by just removing the screw.

UPDATE:

I am bringing my engine to IPP tomorrow morning.

The only parts I still have to buy are:
SZ 3" test pipes
SZ 3" Oval tip cat back
SZ oil pan
:)

I'm so happy its near completion im looking to have my engine back by early December, that gives them an entire month to do the machine work and to assemble my long block. During that month I will be saving to afford the additonal SZ products. So that as soon as I have the engine back we can immediately start the install. :gapteeth:

LOL. I'd be happy if mine was finished by december, and its supposed to be an easy OEM rebuild!

if your build takes less than 8 months, I'll show this thread to my dad, and promptly laugh at him. Then realize my car still is a shop whore.

Good s*** on starting the build my friend. I'm waiting to see that motor as soon as it gets back from the shop! (a fat tip will make them get it done quicker, they say.)

*ps* wtf happened to your intercooler dude?!!!?

mad props, yo. mad props.

1. HAHA my build will be done before 8 months.

2. I am not worried about how long it takes IPP to build the stage 6 long block but brett said it should take them a month... All I care is that my fairladys heart is built right. I have faith in the loving hands at IPP  my motor is not their first rodeo...

3. The intercooler just sprung a hole idk i guess thats what happens to 21 year old oem plastic intercooler tanks :gotme

Update!!!

Ok so we pulled the motor from the bottom because i figured that it would be much easier to install all the upgrades with that much more space..

But first we needed more light under my Z so i setup these lights.. As most of you know its damn near impossible to even get the brightest light coming from overhead the motor and shining all the way down and hitting the ground below the TT's engine bay even with the belly shields removed :chuckle: .
Image

Then the work began.
Needed to make sure we got all the bolts.
Image
Image
Image

Then we got her to come down a little bit.
Image

Fast forward to where we have her all the way down.
Image

The drive shaft yolk didn't want to release! haha pull out the comealong!
Image
Image

Now random pictures.

So much oil on the RH side because of the valve cover leak.

Hope you all liked it more to come! :dblthumb:

Haha, nice progress!

When I dropped my motor, I placed it on a piano dolly which made it way easier to pull out from under the car.

Forgive me for not bothering to look back at your parts list and mods you had before BUT, do you plan on getting stickier tires, lightweight wheels, and maybe some suspension upgrades to offset the enormous power gain you will be achieving with this build?!

Ok now that photobucket is done being a prick its time for an update..

Ok first got the oil pan off and already sent it to specialty Z :gapteeth:
Image
For some weird reason I had to remove the turbo and the oil filter housing to get to the tranny bracket so I could take off the oil pan down it was loose just wouldn't come down cause it was getting caught on that bracket for the trans.

Now some before/after pics of the dirty engine bay RH side had valve cover leaking i'm still cleaning her up she is a real dirty girl gotta get her all the way cleaned up then prep her for paint and fill in the holes where the hicas mounting used to be.

Before long hours of scrubbing and engine degreaser (RH side)

After still not done (i'm a perfectionist)

Also freshened up the sub frame just for protection. I scrubbed on it too here the pics i don't have any before pics :frown:

Notice how I didn't paint the struts. Cause i will be getting coilovers with my income tax check :yesnod :naughty:

The update is here... I know you of many people can appreciate the progress i have made due to how long it gets a dirty girl cleaned up..
Engine degreasing takes time... I can't wait for this weekend to take off more things off the engine bay so that i can finish cleaning then start sanding and filling the hicas mounting holes...

I love your 240... Any update on your sons car??

Of course. Thats a goofy question.. I am just going to ride on stock suspension for a little bit while I horde money for my suspension dump. I'll be getting Tien coilovers after I get my income tax check. I just have to take it easy hehehe :chuckle: which I will.

Happy belated Thanksgiving! Lookin alot cleaner, good sh*t dude. :yesnod

Repaint that bay if you can, or just touch it up with white, i noticed there's some missing/yellowish paint areas. (That is, if you're going for a thoroughly clean look, otherwise leave as is lol.) I might do it to mine while the engine's out.
