this is my very first post on the nissan forums and i hope that it wont be my last... I like to contemplate about off the wall motor swaps and was wondering if a sr in a 300 would be a good swap? i love the 30 body and the sr power...and i can get my hands on both fairly quick.. would this be a possible swap? thank in advance for any useful input

It's doable, but I don't see the benefit. The 300 is a heavy car compared to a 240, so the SR would be at a big disadvantage from the get go trying to move the heavier chassis around.

You should put an RB into a Z32 instead that would totally kick azz. Oh and doesn't signal have a SR powered Z33

I don't think an RB will fit in the Z32's engine bay. It's cramped with a motor half the length of an RB. Putting a 4 banger in it would be the equivilant of putting an inline 6 in the 240's engine bay I think.

Im not sure but I did see a vid with a z32 with a "supposed" "rb" swap. Dont know if it was 25 or 26.

for the 300zx id never do a sr swap. Either work on the VG or something bigger, never smaller.

I think the LSx would be a better matchfor the 300zx since it's a heavier car. However, I think there is someone who put a SR in a 350z.

anyway..good Luck..we would love to see the result whichever you choose.

No. A Z33 is much lighter. IIRC it's only like 300ish more than an S13.

would a five hundred horse power sr move the z32 well though i dont want anything more than that because where i live theres a lot of ricey little hondas but there are the few(the very few cars) that are worth running and i feel that five hundred out of a sr is more than enough

500HP anything isn't going to be slow. It'll move, there is just cars that 500 will move better. Why are you so set on a Z32? Ugly cars IMO. If you are doing it to be different great but it really is pointless from a performance standpoint.

Its not all about HP, you need to consider the amount of torque the little 2 liter is capable of producing, with a light weight car low torque isnt as much of an issue, but in the heavy Z the lack of torque is really going to kill the streetability of the car, and keep in mind, any 2 liter making 500 hp isnt going to be that streetable to begin with.

IIRC the Factory curb weight of a track edition 350Z is around 3300 lbs, about 550 more than an S14 SE.

Well ok so this isnt the best combination...but i still would like an sr in something like an s13 or s14 i love the body of the s14 but the price is alil too much but it would be worth it... unless i just put a rb into a 300

I'll admit that I don't check out ROTM anymore. I used to keep an eye on it years ago, but I got lazy. I stand corrected
