300zx drifting

Im thinking of getting a 240sx or 200sx but I cant find any good deals and Im just finding 300zx which is my second choice. how would you go about drifting a 300zx if its hard

you would go to a drift event, whether it be in a parking lot or on a track, and hit the gas and turn the wheel. get as much seat time as possible and just get comfortable with the car.

after that, start researching some basic mods like

i ususally dont see too many 300's Drifting...but anythings possible..lol jksure but id get as much prac. as possible in it.id still recomend a 240 tho..for drifting

well at the current inflation of the s chassis prices no a 300 could be a very good car to drift. Dont get me wrong a 240 is awsome but anything can be drifted. Just google 300zx drift videos...

anything is possibe ive seen a volvo wagon drift better than i can in my 240 im just a biginner tho i need at least 4 more years of practice before i can say im a drifter.me i just call it getting sydewayz...........

But as for drifting a 300zx i know this kid that tends to come out to are events here in orlando that gets "sydewayz" in one, and i've been out messing around before with some people and saw this kid in a white one trying it out seems like he was having more trouble keeping it sliding then actually initiating the drift but like everyone said practice

dude these things are heavy as hell, and they have body roll like boats, but ive been practicing alot and im kinda getting the hang of things, i still wouldnt call it drifting because i cant keep it up at a steady rate of speed and i suck still, but hey practice make perfect, dont let any ******* discurage you thats the 1st lesson! a friend of mine thought he was the stuff and laughed in my face when i told him i wanted to drift my z, and now i get more sidewayz than he does in his 86, which is surprizing cuz i suck, but yea if its a tt, then just tune the mess out of your suspension and you'll be good, if its na you might have a little more trouble but with practice you'll get it.

my friend has a tt..it to be honest..its actually not THAT bad at it,..just tapping the gas and getting into boost, gets it sideways..its pretty smooth for its size too, and i just backed off the throttle a little, it snappped back straight and caught..i almost like it better than my 240, and we both have full suspension setups

but he still doesn't have the amount of work in the suspension as mine, so i'll take me anyday

I just got a 90 na z n I like drifting slow in the rain and in sand! saves me tires but im dooing some lite power adders b4 I start killing tires! Im comming from a stock 96 240 and the z is eazer 4 me cuz the vlsd and my 240 is open diff 4 now while im still in the process of a sr20det swap! Its all the driver! Im sure any pro drifter could slide my z better then me with less power!

a 300zx is an ok platform to drift with. Seen a couple people rippin em on the track. I member few years back james evans (currently drives a rb26 s13) won at summit point with a 300zx. Back then he was killin it with that car, so yeah its a very capable to drift. Just not too sure of the fallbacks with it.

the rear end of the car is very light compared to the front so they are very spin happy and plus the extra weight causes alot of understeer. but i just got some new rims so when i get tires for those, im gonna tear up my 16's before i put the new ones on. anybody know of any good practice spots or events commin up in in so cal? la area?

A 300 is a harder platform to learn how to drift on but with lots of practice and wrecks its possable

i am getting an 86 z with a turboed motor from an87 and i plan on setting it up to be an all around street car and mabey lean it more to the drifting side. anything is possible it takes work though...

take for instance my uncles drag car runs mid 9 in the quartermile and guess what it is a freakin ford pinto. that's right the worst car ever produced but with time and dedication you can turn **** into a diamond.. at least automotively speaking

good tires, extra power if your na and at least 5 gallons of gas cuz the a $ $ is lite in the 2+0! I never drifted a 2+2.

I drifted my 2+2 at Carlisle it needs a better rear end in it. At least mine does, the viscus is shot and doesn't lock like it used to, but that is why I'm shimming it.

I have Z31, with much effort and tons of suspension work, she drifts. Your technique and what your comfortable with is what it really boils down to. You can get a VW Bus to drift under the right conditions. But I started with practicing 180 turns with the e brake, after I became comfortable with that, I applied it to the road and powered over. Cusco makes a turn knob for your e brake that allows it to just drop back down after you rip it. After you get that tech. down, I started hitting corners at speed turning in and then oversteering without brakes... you really have to time it. I've had to be pulled out of ditches and fields numerous times. My best advise is to drive/drift as much as you can. Practice makes perfect.

I actually learned to drift in our WRX several years ago, I kinda learned backwards, the all wheel drift is the most controlled drift I've experienced.And if your going to be doing upgrades.... wheel studs!!! Sooner or later you'll snap off those factory ones. 15mm x 1.25s is what you'll want... 5 lug.

I own an Auto shop and have been drifting for a couple of years, spent thousands of dollars, and go to SCCA events and other unmentionables and besides stickers and coupons I doubt you get anything the rest of us get. Come on. Sliding out of Wal-Mart don't count bud.
