You should also look into replacing the trans/alternator/battery harness aswell.

Easier than an EFI harness, but still easiest with the engine out. A new one is about $200, a good used one goes for about $75-$100.

Wow, bad news indeed...I've not had good luck with most people I've had do work on my Z in the past doing even capable work either.
If I was you I'd really spend some time searching out a certified Nissan specialist at the least and hopefully someone very knowledgeable on Z's before having anyone do any further work on your build, it's WAAAAY too easy to have disastrous fubar's occur otherwise...
Here's hoping it's just a small hiccup in your build!

I hear ya, in the old days anyone could easily handle the majority of machine work and repairs...but not so much these days.
My NA had the w-pump go bad, and I had some cooling issues of course so I took it to a shop that had done small service for me on the car for years, and where the operator had an NA as well.
They somehow screwed up the w-pump install (leaked immediately) while doing 120K service as well, and when they went back in to re-do the entire job they then broke my radiator and then took a week to find and replace it with a non-OEM, WTF-brand POS..the whole fiasco took over two weeks, and they then tried to charge me for the 120K service on top of the w-pump work (and even tried charging for the radiator as well!) that we'd negotiated to be no cost, since all of the 120K service parts came on and off with the w-pump work.
Needless to say I now do ALL work I can possibly handle, and have a Nissan specialist to help me or handle any major work and will not even consider any other shop.

Alright guys... so i have been dealing with this shop down in San Diego... its called Speed Specialties on El Cajon Blvd. Family owned and operated... the guy took the time to go thru every step of the process with me, me and my million questions, as well as he sends me photo updates and explains everything to me... you cant really price that kinda of customer service, and man they have been doing a really great job working with me, especially at dealing with my nervousness after the last mishap i had with mechanics lol.

Here are some photo updates!

Brand new springs and guides

Block just got bored out baby!

Agreed 100%. Also go easy on the break in. But 20 PSI on pump gas (especially 91 octane) is a recipe for disaster.

probably THE fmic for the z, the TDM one, it'll cost you about 1,700 dollars.

It's 100% the TDMWorks FMIC, and it's now $1850. But worth every penny.

Prettied up indeed! Digging the color scheme.
What color do you plan to do the Throttle Cable Cover?
