Good yes, top of the line, no.

CPs are nearly a grand themselves, but Wiesco and Eagle combo will run about a 1100.

To check the mark on your no-name pulley:
  • - Put a long 3/8" extension in the spark plug hole for Cyl 1. 18"+ Or better yet, a long piece of plastic rod so you don't mar the piston.

    - Manually turn the crank with the sprocket attached until the mark on your sprocket lines up with the notch on the oil pump (TDC)

    - Slide the underdrive pulley on.

    - Ensure TDC is TDC with the rod in Cyl 1. It should be at the top of the stroke when the mark is at TDC.

    - Check the timing mark. It should be at exactly 0 with the lower timing cover.

    - If not, throw it out and get a UR or ASP pulley.
I guess you don't need the rod in Cyl #1 if you're all apart, just if the engine was in the car and you wanted to check.

Good luck with the GSP turbos, you're going to need it. Would have been better off getting some quality used turbos, or rebuilding a set of stockers.

While 500-600 RWHP isn't impossible, it's not in line with the components you have. I'd expect about 425RWHP from the GSP turbos, and even then, not for long.

Sport700 JWT turbos will get you your 500-550 RWHP easily on 93 octane and a fantastic tune (read, not just a JWT chip).

Don't want to piss in your oatmeal, just telling you how it is.

Oh, and Trinh (Vulcanrush) can come off like a d!ck, but he wasn't inaccurate in anything he said. Sometimes, the truth hurts.

Best of luck on the build, and thanks for the warning on Z-loser-suckka-shop. Those guys sound like clowns!

I will be sure to check this first thing when everything is going back on the block!

I have heard both sides of the spectrum on this... a couple people have been running these and had great luck running 570rwhp and a couple people say no stay away...we shall see what happens...and hopefully they are strong and on point!
BigTDogg (MA) wrote:... a fantastic tune (read, not just a JWT chip).
I originally went with the JWT chip, however upon further research from everything, i realized that i need a real DYNO tune and thats what i will be doing!

its ok, i dont really like oatmeal anyway ;-)

i didnt necessarily have a problem with what he said, more so what he assumed and the way he came off with it... i dont hold a grudge so no biggie. i have already put 8 grand in to this build and probably gunna be close to another 5 g more so i understand

He is in business because he gets a bunch of young guys that he does work for and scams them and they dont realize it. Someone is going to catch on and its not going to be pretty!

Couldn't begin to tell you. He bought that thing over a year ago. I believe it was from a vendor though, and not ebay. It definitely does make a difference.

let me know how the gsp turbos work out for you ive heard bad things about those on the Zs i was thinking of grabbing a set and putting hks wastegate actuators to see if that helps since i need budget turbos to get my Z running again. check these links.

I will surely you guys know how the turbos turn out. I plan on running a boost controller and properly breaking in the turbos and engine before getting on it.

Throw those Ebay gaskets in the trash and get some Nissan Head Gaskets, I blew a set of the cheapos running stock turbos. And get EVERYTHING machined, all surfaces, do not cheap out on the cheapest part of the build!

You know how dr z is always posting up ads on craigslist all over SoCal. post up your own "Dr Z testimonial" ad all over socal on craigslist with those pictures...im sure dr z will appreciate it.

seriously though, it would help a lot of people and their Z's avoid trouble.

Alright... for those of you who tuned in to watch my build... i decided to spring for the new rods. Several people have said that the old rods can more then handle it... but i think its better to be safe , than sorry in this case. I dont want to build an awesome motor and then have it fail due to old rods. That would suck and probably be the end of my z hobby for a while so i sprung for the new eagle rods with arp2000 bolts. also ordered this last week was .... ACL race bearings, ramey idler studs, H.I. Overdrive for waterpump and arp main studs.

another update with pictures coming soon!

Gunna rip out the old harness this weekend :-) should be fun! HAHA NOT!

Are you located in the LA area? I was browsing CA craigslist adds for TTs when I found this http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/pt ... 10696.html
Is this the shop that did the work? Found it funny I saw an add for a Dr. Z shop, would be even funnier if its the same one
