Good yes, top of the line, no.mrmoose wrote:for about 1200 you can get a top of the line piston and rod combo. wiseco or cp pistons, and eagle rods
CPs are nearly a grand themselves, but Wiesco and Eagle combo will run about a 1100.
To check the mark on your no-name pulley:
- - Put a long 3/8" extension in the spark plug hole for Cyl 1. 18"+ Or better yet, a long piece of plastic rod so you don't mar the piston.
- Manually turn the crank with the sprocket attached until the mark on your sprocket lines up with the notch on the oil pump (TDC)
- Slide the underdrive pulley on.
- Ensure TDC is TDC with the rod in Cyl 1. It should be at the top of the stroke when the mark is at TDC.
- Check the timing mark. It should be at exactly 0 with the lower timing cover.
- If not, throw it out and get a UR or ASP pulley.
Good luck with the GSP turbos, you're going to need it. Would have been better off getting some quality used turbos, or rebuilding a set of stockers.
While 500-600 RWHP isn't impossible, it's not in line with the components you have. I'd expect about 425RWHP from the GSP turbos, and even then, not for long.
Sport700 JWT turbos will get you your 500-550 RWHP easily on 93 octane and a fantastic tune (read, not just a JWT chip).
Don't want to piss in your oatmeal, just telling you how it is.
Oh, and Trinh (Vulcanrush) can come off like a d!ck, but he wasn't inaccurate in anything he said. Sometimes, the truth hurts.
Best of luck on the build, and thanks for the warning on Z-loser-suckka-shop. Those guys sound like clowns!
