Just hope whatever you get ain't in an accident - an accident that ain't your fault.

Cause when it's rebuilt won't matter what badge it wears - you lose period.

Unless its a lease in which case the leasor takes a hit on residual and you walk away.

Fueleconomy.gov shows the Fit sport is the automatic version getting the mileage close to the Versa with CVT. It also happens to be the model I see the most around here. The regular Fit equipped with automatic is about 10% better. Personally, I think the vast majority of the people wouldn't think the loss of creature comfort is worth that little of an mpg difference.
Here ya go: http://www.fitfreak.net/forums....html

I too was tempted to trade. But after reading, the grass is NOT greener over there. The Versa is not as popular, but it looks to be the better car. If I thought the Fit was much better, I'd buy one. It will be interesting to see if the new Fit is much better.I think Nissan made an "ok" car. The V gives you alot for the low price.

BTW: My SL CVT is approaching 1000 miles. The economy is suddenly getting really good according to my scan gauge. I'll report what mpg I get w/ this tank.

Quote »Lets face it. You put two cars competing in the same segment against each other and the Honda will always win in resale value.

Always.

I defy you to prove me wrong via any published means necessary by taking a weighted average.

Is it COMPLETELY for the right reasons, probably not.

[/quote]Easy there, Sparky.

No one is saying that Honda doesn't have good resale and in some cases, better than other comparable cars. What I AM saying is that if you trade in your practically new Versa in for another new car (the Fit) you will lose thousands of dollars and negate any resale value edge you would have with the Honda.

I will say Honda makes some of the most boring, albeit, reliable cars.

My man... have you ever driven a CRX, or DelSol, or mid 2000s SIR, or an S2000?

... or even a Ridgeline or Odyssey??

Thats more than half the product line!

You may be correct on 4 door Civics mind you.

For the record I am no Honda nutswinger.

Look at what I drove and raced Professionally for nearly 10 years.

I have been comparing the Fit, Versa, and Yaris lately as I plan to buy one of these very soon. The Fit...only because of so many great reviews... but I find the exterior design of the 2009 ugly (IMHO) and WAY over-priced (dealer jacked up over $2,000 beyond MSRP) and I had bought a brand new 1985 Honda Civic wagon that was the WORST new car I've ever purchased. Hit a bump, the windows rolled down, rattled like an old Army tank, mileage declined with break-in, and performance nose-dived in the 3 yrs. I owned it, seats became hard as rock in cool weather, so traded it for a Dodge Shadow ES turbo that I absolutely LOVED! So I am prejudiced against Honda and would take a LOT to persuade me to try them again. But I looked and just got that queazy feeling in my stomach, so moved on! I drove a Yaris yesterday (hatchback auto with power pkg) and it was o.k. Handling, ride and noise did not match that in the Versa S hatch I drove the day before. But the Yaris seems to get better mileage, though perhaps not that much better to justify paying about the same for a stripped down Yaris (no power windows, locks, cruise, radio, etc.) vs. a nicely equipped Veras (WITH pw, pdl, cruise, stereoCD, etc.). My only problem now is the Versa sedan may not fit in my little 1-car garage... will have to give it a try before I buy. The hatchback is shorter, but I like the look of the sedan a lot more (personal preference... sedan, especially the rear, looks like mini-Mercedes to me!). The Yaris would need an added rear stabilizer bar as the rear seemed loose, especially on the highway. Also steering didn't seem as precise as Versa, though neither can compare to my Miata that handles a windy road like cutting butter with a warm knife (I'm spoiled!). But I need a more practical car, so good-bye Miata. I guess it will come down to who can get my payments where I want them, but am really leaning towards the Versa though I still think the Yaris hatch is a cute little bug!

So we're at 9300 kms.

Gas mileage is the same as it was new. Nearly no difference. Last fill was actually the only time ever we dipped into 7.5L/100 kms or 520 kms for around 39L.

For the entire time we've owned the car is has been 8.5L/100 to 8.9L/100 kms. The dealer in Whitby seems to be good and solution oriented but they said they won't even look at into it until 12,000 kms.

Sounds excessive but reasonable that they'll address it.

I drove an 09 Fit and I think the previous poster has let his poor experience get to him and I can't say I wouldn't do the same. It is sporty, feels slightly faster and has far better road manners and the steering and handling is very good for a little car. The dash it out there and quite wacky. They have taken about 3" of legroom from the rear of the car compared to our Versa.

Plus Honda wanting stupid finance rates would not make it worth it, otherwise I was going to trade in the Versa right then and there.

I was getting better MPG after the 35,000KM mark. I am now getting 510 to 575km per 45 to48 liters. When I 1st got my Versa it was like only 330KM per fill THAT was awfull. So hang in there it will get better!!

That mileage is in the mid 8s per 100L.

Not very good.

Consider a Honda Civic NON hybrid is getting 6.5L combined.

zed, my first 10,000 km were pretty bad, but improved steadily after that. The only time I'm getting over 8 l/100 km is when my wife drives! Normally now 7-7.5 combined.

Of course, I haven't had any major problems either, and faithfully change oil at 5,000k.
