what about top end speed? doesnt cvt have a limiter?mcheddadi wrote:
yes, he would be faster (assuming he can shift properly)
I'm pretty sure that's not exactly accurate.... from all of our accounts, the 2008 3.5's all come with V rated tires, these have a maximum speed rating of 149 mph... however, foks with the 3.5CVT are limited to ~130 mph...Ferguson wrote:The limiter isn't related to the transmission. All 2.5s are limited to about 113 MPH, while the 3.5s are limited to something closer to 140-145 MPH (if memory serves me correctly). And no... I have not been there.
Okay, you may be right, Rob. I don't have any track where I'll get much past 120-125, so I'll likely never know. I thought there had been previous mention here of 142 for both trannies but I may well be thinking of info read elsewhere (and possibly less accurate).rjdmmfl1 wrote:I'm pretty sure that's not exactly accurate.... from all of our accounts, the 2008 3.5's all come with V rated tires, these have a maximum speed rating of 149 mph... however, foks with the 3.5CVT are limited to ~130 mph...
Well, I've hit the limiter on my car, and it has never gone past 135...also, I've raced Shawn b4 coming back from a canyon run, his car continuously pulled away from mine once I hit my limit (he has a 3.5 manual)... I suggest you find a straightaway, floor it, and I guarantee you won't make it past 135 either! As a matter of fact, since I've been on NICO... NOONE with a CVt has made it past 135, not even Blake, with his turbo (and its not from lack of running space as his car gets to 135 pretty quick.) Nissan di*ked the CVt owners my dudeHussain wrote:no i dont think thats right because i've done 130 MPH and i think i even did 135 mph (dont remember cuz i was busy watching the road) but both times i never hit a limiter.... i usually let off at 120 or 125 cuz no need to any faster but ya, i think the limiter is in the 140's
Someone informed me they drove the Altima almost 190 miles / h . Is our car that fast ??Ferguson wrote:Daan, the only time I have run that fast on the road, it has been basically a closed course, with radio contact to 'spotters' at both ends.
Certain stretches of highway in Cali lend itself to that. Plus, the guys I was with both had radar detectors, and they were BOTH in front of me... to be honest, my ba**s aren't big enough to run long distances at that speed, only short stretches.. but Shawn and Damien, those guys are nuts..lol... (in a good way) they do 120 like its nothing..., also, the way the highway is set up, everyone is already speeding a bit (going like 80-90mph), so if there's a sped trap ahead, we'd see folks with their brake lights on in plenty of time to slow downDAAN. wrote:You guys are nuts!!
If we get caught at speeds of 35 mile over the limit, the car is taken. In the east, the car is destroyed by authorities under same conditions.
No. Just like Robert said. 148 mph for the 6 speed 3.5 Altima, 135 for the CVT 3.5 Altima, and 113 for all 2.5L due to OEM tire speed rating. Nothing changed for 09. The 3.5 CVT does pull all the way to 135, but I assure you with factory programming, it stops there.DAAN. wrote:Smart, as always

wow i must have almost hit the limiter because i know i've done 130 MPH and i think even a tiny bit more and never hit the limiter lol do you by any chance know why the CVT is limited lower? can CVT go really high top end without messing up with the limiter taken off?adidas2go wrote:
