Hey guys, well my ridiculously long saga of doing this swap is finally coming to close(my other thread is toast), the car left to the fabricators house today so he could get his jolly's off on my stainless piping and hopefully make something out of it. But anywho, i thought it would be appropriate to throw some updates around and show what ive been up to the last couple months.

For those who weren't here for the first build thread, this is my car its a 1990 Silvia K's CA18DET originally.

Now onto the good stuff,

so i thought since i had some time on my hands id try my hand at some interior work, since i cant weld, and thats what was holding me up, finding a reliable fabricator to finish the job.

Image

Redid my glove box mount, and i threw the Silvia emblem on there cause it was laying around, but then i really liked it so i kept it on there, which meant i needed to get another emblem ;)
Image

Haven't seen any other cars with these K's Logos so i thought id snatch em up, everything looks pretty pimp
Image

New OEM shift boot
Image

Thought this would set the tone pretty nicely.
Image

Image

I think it turned out pretty well, took alot of trial and error tho lol.
Image

Resprayed all the trunk panels to get rid of any wear and tear
Image

Got the trunk all done with B-quiet sound deadener.
Image

Finished the rest up and the doors. Should be very noticeably quieter now.
Image

Image

Now...This isnt gunna be everybody's cup of tea, but let me point out a few things, the car is gunna be making over 500whp, its a fun weekend cruise car, most likely wont see any track ergo im not too concerned about weight and i wanted the car to be able to pump some tunes. That being said, if you like it cool, if not no big thats your opinion. Constructive criticism is fine by me :)
Image

And i replaced all four speakers with Kicker's
Image

Ill install this bad boy last i think.
Image

So i needed to upgrade a few suspension components, and i was checking around for a few OEM replacements but everything was pretty expensive for what you got, instead i picked up the Godspeed full kit, sway bar end links from bings.ca and complete bushing kit from frsport (those guys are great to deal with!) so all in all every arm is replaced and the rear sway bar, the front one was too beefy so i put the stocker back on so everything clears nicely for now.

Image

Image

PITA!
Image

FInished product is lookin pretty good, if i do say so myself
Image

Got some engine stuff in
Image

Image

Mmmmmm...
Image

Couplers, Exhaust wrap and Fuel Lines
Image

Battery Relocation Kit
Image

New Tails :bigthumb:
Image

Difference is night and day, I love em.
Image

Here`s a crappy snap from my phone before the car left but this is how the engine bay stands, ive done a ridiculous amount of cleaning and restoring to this thing, once the fabbing is done all my other shiny bits can go in

Image

And here`s the money shot to end this first post off, the stance will prolly be like this to get some photos taken, but for everyday lol very doubtful id be rubbing/scraping on everything
Image

Anyways thats enough from me for now, im tired haha, to everyone who was part of the first build thread welcome back to my humble project and to those just joining, stick around things are gunna get interesting!

Is this the thread you meant, or did you have another one that was lost?

I think they're not too shabby in terms of bang for buck, ive been in a few cars with Tein's and i like mine way better, maybe it was the setup. Id prolly buy megans or stance if i was to do it again since its just a cruise car, if i was tracking it id prolly shell out a few more penny's.

Damn that is a big improvement! I dig the rear seat delete and subwoofers. Where'd you get the battery relocation kit from? I've been dying to do that.

Small update, cars been over at the guys place for a couple nights now, so i went over last night and gave him a hand for a bit and snapped a few shots. Basically the two hard parts are done now, rerouting the waste gate and finding the position/angle of the downpipe that makes life easy.

I forgot to put this in the last post, but i got this all cleaned up and a couple coats of paint later looks pretty snazz.
Image

Wastegate in its new home, with plenty of room for it and the screamer pipe
Image

Image

Ill get a better pic, but it shows how tight everything is haha, were gunna bring it down and run it along the frame rail until it needs to crossover to meet up with the normal S13 midpipe position.
Image

Anyways, thats all for the moment, but i wanted to keep this thread updated as much as possible, im goin over tonight and were gunna put in 3-4 hours on it so hopefully the exhaust and intercooler pipe is all tacked and everything is sitting where it needs to be. Expect some progress tommorow guys.

Alright so tonight we put in 4 hours and everything went really smooth, a couple beers down and we've got the exhaust mani/wastegate and now the entire exhaust is tacked up.

Were using one V-band off the turbo, one at the bottom of the downpipe and one bolt flange for the entire thing, so we basically extended the mid pipe about 6 feet.
Image

Mike doin his stuff
Image

Image

Image

Mmmm shexy.. its at a nice sideways angle to
Image

There we go, everything is tacked up and ready for him to go to town on it, tommorow were doing the intercoolerpiping and brackets possibly getting the oil cooler mounted up, who knows!

hey gang, another alright update, didnt get quite as much as we hoped done, but its still a pass, intercooler and piping are all set to go BOV marked out.

This pic turned out well i think
Image

Little bit of of fabricating ingenuity!
Image

Image

Image

Image

Also on the plus, im gunna end up using this throttle body! The Greddy TPS adapter kit works perfect on it and its waaaaay better than the beat up Q45 tb.
Image

Thats all for now, but if we keep chippin away at it, one way or another its gettin done! Expect some updates Sunday, have a good weekend guys :)

Today was a long day so we decided to just get a few things done, and have a few beers. Finish all the fabricating tommorow.

Heres a nice touch I got in the mail the other day :D

Image

Image

Everywhere we've cut out will be replaced with stainless sheeting which i might keep or paint black not sure yet, but it will be super clean when its finished, no hack jobs here!

Image

And then we got the intake cut out and what not, just need to commandeer a 4" coupler and im golden.
Image

Thats all for now, tommorow is shot but the car comes back to my place on thursday and ill keep posted hopefully my damn turbo lines come in soon!

Later

Awesome build man!

That car is gonna flyyyy

But honestly,

Image

This is THE worst deck I have ever used. My younger bro has it in his MR2, I despise it. Especially the preset functions. Now, who the hell wants to press a button, scroll through a menu and then press a button again for the presets? Seriously. It's supposed to be a quick way to change the stations without taking your eyes off the road.

Anyways, everything else seems to look top notch :P

Such a sweet car. You're going to scream with that 2jz, and bump with the dual subs. :woot:

Can't wait to see it all finished up. I have that same front bumper awaiting some fab work, so this is perfect timing to see it on your coupe. :mike

Ive never used it before, the guy who i bought it from at visions said he has it in his car and loves it, i needed to get something bluetooth because of the gay laws being passed around here about cellphones and all that, it looks pretty snazz and has an audio input for my phone, i dont need much else since thats all i use for music anyways. I appreaciate the feedback, ill let u kno how it is once i get it all in and play around with it.

I think you and I are building very similar cars, obviously different applications but were both pretty meticulous on how we go about making modifications and what not. O yeah? Well if u need more pix or whatever, id be happy to oblige just hit me up.

Small update, the last two days we have been finishing up small odd jobs around the car, fixed a few hangers and sucked the exhaust closer to the car ( nothing pic worthy) but ill take some good snaps once its all tigged up and ready for a final install. And we fixed up something else...

So im not really sure what this says about Tech2's craftsmanship or pride they take in their work? But this is pretty bad.

Image

Luckily it was an easy fix, and its sitting perfect now!

Image

Cars back at my place for the weekend so we will see what all gets done, talk to u guys later.

update:

Got my parts back from powdercoat so im all set to go, but i hooked the transmission back up and its only shifting 3-N-4 and sideways in N but not to any other gears, so i think i may have lined something up improperly. Just waiting on my OS push-pull converter, which as i check my phone is in memphis atm. Fingers crossed, its here for the end of the week, but most likely monday. Its going to be an interesting week, im entered in my old highschool car show next saturday, its gunna be interesting to see if it runs by then!

Keeping with the black, purple and gold theme, vola!
Image

Image

Got all my AN fittings today
Image

And wrapped some stuff, exhaust mani's are VERY hard to wrap wow..
Image

Picked up a couple cusco strut bars for 100$!
Image

And spent a nice amount of time taking the powdercoat off..to turn them into this
Image

(this anodized purple looks way better in person, my cam kinda doesnt do it justice
Image

And finally the tps stuff that i love sooooooooo much!
Image

Expect an update in a day or two, some insight into the transmission thing would be welcome!
