2jz? how much work is really involved???

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

I heard that the 1JZ is damn near unbreakable. I don't see how it would make as much power as the 2JZ in stock form, simply for the reason that it is 0.5 litres smaller.

I personally like the 1JZ better. With the shorter stroke, it can rev higher and if you look at comparison dyno charts, the 1JZ has a better usable powerband than the 2JZ.

It's kinda like comparing an SR to a KA........... Lol, J/P!

You can't go wrong with either. If I was doing a swap, I would probably go with the 1JZ. Cheaper and just as good, if not better in some aspects.

Well there both great motors and can handle **** loads of boost. But bang for the buck... 1JZ all the way! I saw motor sets for the 1J for $1,800 with the harness ecu and 5 speed. And if you buy a chaser 1J you wont even need the transmission extention, but if your not that lucky for 1,800+250+450 you will be all ready! Then the swap kits and some pataince you will be ballin!

And in terms of strenth...The 1JZ block is identical to the 2j. The only diffrence is the stroke, and the bore is the same. People accually swap the blocks of their 1JZ with a 2JZ block and create a 1.5JZ They say that the 1jz head flows better so if any thing ever happpens to the 1jz block you could create a monster!

Whom ever mentioned the 900whp...600whp will give you 10sec Qrts (food for thought)Plus at 900hp you will need to do some SERIOUS chassis work so the car doesnt turn it self inside out

Yeah, but 900 > 600, so it is just that much more impressive to school girls and all motor civic drivers.

Also the higher revs of the 1jz allows for a better power range...Now the disscussion beginsWhy not just get an RB series engine?

Yea 1jz is where I am going with this swap too. But my dentist bill just came in =/

So I am going to be saving for some thing else...

Cheaper and easier to get parts are a couple of reasons why people seem to go JZ

i think i might be leaning towards the 1jz now, but are the internals still as strong as the 2jz?

can it hold 700+whp on the stock motor?
