Just wondering if anyone has tried fitting 28mm calipers on any 30mm Rotors and what are the results?

I'm looking to fit some Bremebo 28mm calipers on the cheap onto 350z rotors.

I don't have the money for floating rotors now but maybe thats what I got to do. That or I guess just turn down the 350z rotors the thing is how much meat do they have on them? If I do that would I be able to resurface them or would I just have to replace rotors every time?

Just looking for anyone who has tried anything like this.

Everyone just let me know if not I'll end up trying it soon anyways.

If you turn the rotors that much you are going to below the minimum allowable thickness which is 28.4 mm.

Ya I know thats the Min I found out the regular (non brembo) rotors are 28mm if you use Autozone online thing they give EXACT DIMENSIONS which really surprised me. since my brother has a SRT8 I measured his rear calipers off of the center and I had 3/4 only needed 5/8 plus the center of the rotor on the Z is even smaller so I'm gonna order everything and just hope works.

It seems like everything will work under me wheels too. Basically gonna run SRT8 rear 4 piston brembo in front and Evo rear on the rear with Q45 backing plates and drums. I'll post pics if it all works out. And if it does I'll have a bad a** set of Brembo for under $400 including new SS brake lines and front rotors. Since for some reason rear brembos are always available and cheaper.

Wish me luck

you might be able to grind out the caliper to fit the rotors i know some people with 26mm 300zx calipers do this to fit the 30mm rotors

I'm not taking a set of Brembos anywhere near a grinder even if they were free lolz

But your probably right. I'm just gonna stick to the regular Z rotors or maybe I'll do some wilwood floating rotors but I just don't want to run out of money and that can be done later. hopefully along with a 5 lug conversion and some new wheels. But I need a real full time job before I go spending crazy I'm just a student right now and I don't always work 20hr/week so I'm always drained. Basically it seems too good to turn up a chance to convert for the price of Z calipers just for a couple hours worth of extra work.

The rear brembo are suppose to be bolt on I hope thats true. I'll be sure to myth bust that when I buy them and they come in.

When I say bolt on I mean the rears off a Evo to the J30,Q45,Z32 backing plates using an Evo Rotor

Got a J30 subframe yesterday but they wanted me to wait a week until they get to it. It was the only way I could get a good price $250 he asked $400 at first I whittled it down.

From what I know now I'll be getting rotors from a Cobra Mustang 1995 model since they have a good offset to make nice think brackets that won't break.

I'm so dam busy in the day I gotta buy the calipers before someone else spots them at that price.

HOPEFULLY I'll get everything ordered tommrow or Friday. Looks like I'm gonna have a set of Brembo for under $400

Will the J30 subframe swap directly on to an s14?

I've heard yes and know my guess is if it is the same width than yes.

If you want I'll measure mine for ya. I got a s13 vert but there are some arms and stuff that will bolt onto mine and are suppose to be stronger.

Ok update time:

Bought the rear Brembo from a SRT8 unfortutatly I had to try 15 junk yards everytime it either wasn't a brembo or when they realized it was they wanted more

Anyways got the rear SRT8 Silver Brembo off a 300C for only $160 to my door. I'm gonna mix those with rotors off a 95-up SVT cobra Mustang since they are also 28mm Rotors and have the same bolt pattern. (well I got 4 lugs but if I had 5 they are the same)

I had the same problem with getting the rears off a Evo and infact I couldn't find any cheap The best deal I found was a set of 4 spindles rotors and calipers and wheels for only $700 if anyone wants to know I can give the number I think that is a smoking hot deal. Plus someone makes a kit to make them bolt on to a Nissan for only $110 (plus brake lines)

Then I got to looking and the 300zx use thinner rotors than an Evo or Sti but they use the SAME brake pads and piston size so whats the difference in stopping power.

I found a pair of those for $40 but they want $30 shipping I emailed them back if they don't take less for shipping then I'll say screw it and rock Js in the rear for a while they actually aren't that much smaller than Z.

Anybody can sell me a pair of rear Z shipped for $50 I'll take them otherwise I'll wait I'm not rich.

Ok I'll give full dimensions so anyone can be sure.

Unless someone has got a damaged suspension I don't think my shell will be worth anything so I might scrap it but if anyone wants it no diff or brake parts I'll be more than happy to sell it and recover some money. if thats the case I will include all the suspension arms because I'm a broke mofo right now and I really overspent myself.

But it would be bad a** if it bolted right up to a 240sx because thats alot less work than taking everything piece by piece.

Ya it kinda has me scratching my head about the front spindles

Why hasn't anyone tryied that yet and posted it online. I bet the rear bolts up or is extremely close.

I'm so tempted to buy the complete spindles just to try it out but thing is I just bought front Brembo cheap cheap and the junk yard will ask $100 for spindles like that so if they don't fit I'm outta $100 until I sell the calipers.

And honestly I'd rather just pay $150 for new hubs on ebay rather than make the J30 hubs fit on a 240sx spindle they might not be as good as Ichiba but they are same quality like what you get at local autoparts

I'd really like to just buy a lower ball joint and try it out if I could afford $100 down the drain I'd do it for sure.

If anyone knows anyone thats tried that please tell me because I'd love to post step by step. and do it myself. I probably won't go 5 lug on my car because I already 4 lug whees but I got some friends that will.

I just Googled J30 to 240sx and found an old NICO thread and it looks like the spindles will work. They don't say anything about whether the sub frame will bolt up.

I"m talking about the front spindles not the rear

I'm debating buying the fronts with full brakes

I don't need them but I work on 240sx and 4 of my friends have them basically half the 240s in my town lolz I'm a good influence

anyways I figure they are worth getting cause the car will prob get crushed it didn't have much else on it.

They actually don't work they are totally different probably the geometry is the same and maybe if you use the strut and mixed the pillow mount

Either way better off getting the $150 E-bay 5-lugs or if you have the money I'm sure Ichiba makes far far better quality probably better quality than what Nissan uses.

No the junk yard hasn't got it out yet

I'll have them the day I get it I told them to please have it out for this weekend.

Its actually surrounded by mud right now so I hope they actually get it. If not I got other stuff I gotta do like a new top and coming in tomorrow and dash/door panels I'm making.

I have a new plan for the rear brakes and this involves 4 piston calipers similar in size to the front off a 300zx but made by Brembo stay tuned if I do this I may make multiple brackets and sell them I keep learning more and more possibilities for cheap Brembo I might make a kit with calipers and start selling it Brembo calipers came on many cars just secretly. 16pistons of stopping power sounds so ridicules I gotta have it and I'm sure I'm not the only one out there.

I went to the junk yard today, my friend and I friend did some measuring. So there happened to be a 240 sitting in there. I measured three cars. A q45, j30, and the 240sx all actually have different subframes.

They all looked so so similar. But the measurements from the center of each bushing on each car came out 1 inch or 2 bigger or smaller between the three. I was even gonna measure a 300zx subframe but I had forgotten, it probably would have been different as well.

I just got mine today I guess you don't want the measurements now???

I'll post them tommrow but locoluna825 is probably right. If they were the same I'd imagine alto more stuff would be the same.

Its a shame they didn't give the s14s atleast a VLSD and better brakes from the J30 along with 5 lugs. atleast the SE should have had all that.
