i am looking at a 240sx with 250000 miles do you think this is too many miles. I was planning to daily drive it for at least a year its a 1995. mustang i wanted got sold so i saw this at a dealer they are asking $1995. How many miles can a ka go if it was maintained ill be pulling it out in about a year anyway just dont know with all those miles on the body.

I have much respect for the KA, and believe its capable of boatloads of miles. My old coupe had 215,000 on it. Ran like a champ with perfect compression.

Its hard to tell how long its going to last though, and it all depends on its past. Was it beat on? Was the engine rebuilt at one point? Frequent oil changes?

Its hard to tell, but a 95 for 2k isn't too bad at all.

The motors can do it, if they are cared for.

If I were you, there are other things you should be looking at as well. Ive got 208,000 on my S14, and Im mostly through replacing every single piece of rubber on the car due to deterioration. The plastic in the interior has become dry and brittle, and the floor mats have big holes in them. Anything with that kind of mileage is going to require maintenance.

thats a high price? i cant find anything for less than around 3gs with around 140000 miles that is in good condition. the best i found was one in virginia the guy sent me tons of pics and it has no rust at all and 140000 miles he wants 3300. i just dont want to drive so far lol might have to if he still has it cash usually brings the price down. i ran a carfax on it and its had one owner too. think ill go check it out its in south jersey.

fact: mileage doesnt mean s***

this is a hard concept for some to get over when dealing with 240's. some are beat to s***, rusted out, wire problems, riced, cut springs that only have 100k miles, while others have been maintained reasonably with a clean body that have nearly 300k on stock motor. i would in a heartbeat choose a high mileage clean car over a low mileage abused car any day, esp s chassis. you have to look over everything on the car to see if there is any rust first. if its rust free, and the motor runs decent, 2000 really isnt insulting, some people on this board are paying 4500 for a busted up zenki that from what ive read is worth about 400 bux.

just use your head. sounds like you are settling for a car when you really wanted a mustang. i dont understand that logic at all, but thats what you stated, maybe this isnt the car for you if a number on the cluster is an issue.

gl either way.

btw here is a pic of the mileage on my previous beater

i bought it last year in march just previous to my s14 purchase, 92 subaru legacy sedan. i sold it a few months ago to a coworker and still runs great, original motor and transmission. it needed a few repairs, but its 100% dependable.

then your good. just make sure the body is straight no qp damage, front lines up, no rust and the engine sounds like it should, the rest is little stuff compared to what could be if the above checklist doesnt check out.

I dislike high mileage cars. The engine is one thing, but the body starts to wear down as well, in places you wouldn't expect. The cars seen alot of road, dirt, grime, rocks, moisture. If you're considering it - go over it with a fine toothed comb my friend.
