I'll check that out, thanks man! I wandered the Sprint site but didn't see that; I'll check again.

But the T-Mobile references to "mobile hotspots" seem to be focused on providing public wifi in places like Starbucks and hotel lobbies.

If you get the Peel I'm curious to see how you like it. Neat little idea.

Yeah i've been curious about it too, i'd like to see if you could use a bluetooth headset with it and make calls through Google Voice. My iPod touch has become totally useless since i've gotten the EVO though, I still like to play around with it every now and again though.

I'll keep you posted; Sprint wants to charge you $80, and then $30/mo. for a 1GB plan. They don't offer any other plans as far as I can tell. Also, the device will support WiFi access for up to two devices (the strapped-on iPod included) up to 20 feet away.

Verizon wants to charge you nothing for their MiFi 2200, if you sign onto a 2-year contract. It's the same price as the Peel with a 1/yr contract, and it's the full $269.00 if you want month-to-month. The minimum data plan you can get is a 3GB plan, for $35/mo. They also offer 5GB and 10GB plans for $50 and $80, respectively.

Looks like the downside to the MiFi 2200 is that it doesn't strap to your iPod, but the upside is that it will support up to 5 devices at a time. The other downside: Verizon's website says the MiFi 2200 is out of stock.

I thought the Peel also contributed to the iPod's battery life, but I was wrong:

I absolutely hate Sprint, I'll never go back to them. I think I dropped them and switched to T-mobile back in 2004. I love T-mobile (customer service, plans are cheap) but their coverage is the only thing that's lacking..in the rural parts.. where you really..REALLY want to have coverage. I've been out of contract for 3-4 yrs now, it's awesome.

Sprint back in 2004 did suck but that was 7 years ago, that's a lot of time to make changes and they did. They have excellent customer service now and while their coverage may not be on par with Verizon, it blows AT&T out of the water. We've been with them for a a year now and have no regrets about dumping AT&T's crappy service. I didn't lose service a single time on the way to FL from here, same thing with going to Ohio as well. Most of the family is on Sprint as well and came over from AT&T shortly after we did. The plans are amazing compared to Verizon and AT&T, if you have more than one phone. If it were just one phone though, i'd probably go with a different carrier.

T-Mobile isn't bad either though, especially for the money you pay. T-Mobile sucks around here but back home in Atlanta, it was very reliable from what I heard. I had T-Mobile back when they were Powertel, all the way through to the T-Mobile switch and I was happy with them back then myself.

Sprint's customer service used to yell at customers and hang up on them. I think that was their way of increasing network capacity.
