i bought my all stock 92 240sx the other day and the guy said it was hard to start. Well it quit starting. It runs great when its running but it usually takes 6 or 7 times of the motor turning before it will hit. It just quit starting all together a couple of days ago. It has spark and fuel. I checked the timing when it was running so i know its fine. The ecu shows a code 55. Ive searched and came up with no real answers. What else could it be?

Ive found a bunch of ppl with the same problem that keep threads alive for months and then just dissappear like it never happened and they dont come back to say how to fix it.

Did you check for an injector pulse with a noid light. Just cause the pump is runnin doesn't mean you have fuel. Maybe a cam sensor issue. I think the cam sensor is in the distributor. If a friend has a running 240, start swapping parts over till yours runs and his doesn't. Then you've nailed it. Then tell us whats wrong because I too have seen a bunch of threads like this.

I used the screwdriver trick on the injectors and theyre all clicking. i have a bunch of friends w 240s my next step is gonna be swapping the distributor.

compression? make SURE the wires are in the right order?

fuel + compression + spark = ignition

sorry to hear your troubles. your headed in the right direction. you checked the relays, good. might have to replace the starter itself. relax, its 2 bolts and a few wires. until then, dont be afraid of getting on all fours and banging the starter with a pry bar like a freshman at pro.

suspect cause ; continuity on the clutch pedal switch. bad starter signal

Its turning over fine so i dont think it would be the starter or clutch pedal switch.

I set the timing when the car was running because i figured thats why it was hard to start.

but he said its turning, just not starting. doesnt sound mechanical. check spark? is it strong enough? signal into the coil(s)? fuel pressure are the fuel rail?

check your fuse boxes. under the hood/ under your dash. same problem happened to me. turned out to be a blown altenator fuse under the hood. also check to see if you have a bad battery. make sure you have 12 volts comming out. this is a common problem with nissans. very easy fix. also clean any corrosion around your ground wire. could be that its not grounding properly. again this is either a short in your electrical or a fuse problem. i not exactly sure but for the most part it should work..gl

Code 55 indicates no malfunction in the self-diagnostic circuits.

it seems to me that your fuel pump is bad. you may be getting fuel but not enough. i had the same exact problem with mine. check fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

It turns over everytime. Strong like its going to start. It has spark it has fuel and it ran good before i killed it after pulling into my yard so im pretty sure its not compression. I also set the timing while it was running because it had been hard to start. So it has timing, compression, fuel and spark.
