Anyone? put another ka in it and still having the same problem. It sounds like its turning over a little slow and that was with a marine battery and i had it hooked straight to the starter. Im running out of ideas.

if its backfiring, take the fuel pump fuse out. turn it over and see if it has any attempts of firing. might have a cold start issue and firing too much fuel in. so this clears it out

That was one of the first things i did. I went and compression tested it and it was 30-60 lbs across so i pulled the motor and replaced it with one i knew was good and put the head that came with the car back on it. Put it all back together and it did the same thing so i swapped heads and it starts right up everytime. I just have oil and water mixing now so either the hg didnt seal right or i have a cracked block or head.
