Which would you get if they were both like $2,000 and in brand new condition?

I'll second that. I love Porsches. They are, by excellence, my car of choice, but think about the maintenance costs. I would just sell the Porsche and get an R32 GTR and still have money left over.

In Orlando the labor rate for Porsche is around 92 per hour.

c'mon, that's not even competition. Porsches are the eppidemy of the sports car, anyone who takes a car worth $70,000 less and with not nearly as much of anything in the car is crazy to me....:eyecrazy

I personally would take a 1973 Porsche 911RS and run with it. It might not be the most powerful Porsche ever, but it is considered by many to be the wildest one. 2.7L flat-6 N/A 210hp not to mention this was a low compression engine(compression of about 8.6:1 if I'm not mistaking) on a body in which all measures were taken to reduce weight. body pannels were thinner. and nothing in the car but two seats, gauges, steering wheel and pedals...

I actually have been blessed with seeing one of the original 73 RSs, but the factory track version, with a full roll cage and with the motor prepped right out of the factory. The guy who owns it takes to the occasional autoX and the car is still 100% original. The guy is also a Porsche mechanic.

When I graduated highschool I wanted to be a Porsche certified technician(not only Porshe, Ferrari, Rolls, Lambo,ect...), but my parents kept saying how there is no money in being a mechanic. Later on my dad told me that they should have listened to me, but my mom is pretty stubborn.

I could already be working, earning more than some doctors, not having to worry about malpractice insurance, and also be working in something I really like.

Think about it...@$92 an hour, 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year...thats $138,000 a year. and that my friend, is not chump change...

If you work your A$$ off you might even be able to take that # to $300k+ . Of course, that is provided that there is work available, because in that industry finding work is not exactly guaranteed.

Thats $138,000 the shop is pocketing, not the guy in the grease pit. Techs in my area make about $8-15 an hr, depending on experience.

OK, time to use logic. Owners of fine automobiles dont take their $70k and up car to "shops". Those cars are taken to dealers where said car owners are pampered and catered to. Who here owns a german car dealership? Sorry, Rockenreno, i mean no disrespect, but i think you see my point.

Not true, there is a shop that specializes in fixing porches near me. You would be in awe after seeing all the fricken crazy cars they have in their parking lot waiting to be fixed.

OK, but you see my point, right? the shop you speak of is the exception, not the rule. i guess i just wish there were more high end shops around here...

I actually raced a 2002 911Turbo. Pretty funny race... The dude launched it at the rev limitor. What's that about? Like he'd need to do that to beat me. He could have bogged launched in 2nds and still caught my by 5mph. Damn.. He pulled away like I was standing still. It was like I launched it in reverse he pulled away so hard. He accelerated down the street probably up to like 130mph. I went up to 100 trying to catch him just to give him the thumbs up since he blazed me but he was wayyy to far ahead. I'd get the damn porshe.

Theres any question in this?

I'd take a 78' 930 witha 3.6 TT motor in it. 240 over any 911, HAH.
