im doing a sick rebuild in my 240..now do people rebuild the stock 240 transmission..can it handle the power or do people put in different trannys..just wanna know what the best thing to do is so I don't keep swapping trannys I just wanna do it right the first time..all help is appreciated..thanks

The stock trans can hold 400 -500 whp without much issue. It's a pretty solid gearbox, as its the same one they used in the Silvia's, and the pickup trucks.

Some people do swap to the 300zx gearbox, but IIRC it requires an adapter plate.

I feel the gear box is only as strong as the driver keeps it. Negleting one can definitely be bad news.
I have played in a ton of 240sx's and the gear box has always kept me feeling in control, but then again the
strongest was only 300ft/tq. with a stage 2+ spec clutch.

Dont skimp on the clutch kit. I swear by Spec.

the 300zx Z32 and 350Z Z33 transmissions fit with adapter plates. I lean toward the Z33, as highway speeds always want for a 6th gear!
