hey everybody, i recently pulled my engine out and im in the market for some new rims

now here lies the question, with my engine romoved my tire and the bottom of my strut/spring are within less than an inch of each other. Now if i go and put 17" rims will the bigger tire and spring come into contact?

if i got the right offset would it eliminate this problem? and i heard i need about 35mm offset? is this good enough to not have clearance problems?

My 16x7 +22 wheels rubs with the bottom of my strut when I brake hard or go over big bumps.

In order to clear the bottom of the strut that is sticking out id need at least a 20mm wheel spacer, which will also get my wheels flushed.

im running on tokico blues on tanabe gf210 spring combo.

You should probably reconsider a lower offset or get wheel spacers.

i read the wheel fitment guide, do you think if i get like 17x9 with a 35mm offset all around will clear with no problems on my S13? i jus want it to sit flush with the fender

i also have alot of wheel spacer plates if i need them

35 offset should clear fine in the rear, but you'll probably need a 15mm spacer for the front.

Honestly why don't you just measure it with a ruler or something? Verify it like that with the measurements of your wheels then you'll truly see what kind of spacer you'll need if any.

would the wheels your talking about happen to be sportmaxx wheels? if so get em i wanted to get some but was pushed away from them because they would stick out mor in front then in the rear in a 17x9 35 size

Goodluck with you decision

get coilovers and then 17x9 +20 all around. run 225/40 up front and maybe 235-245/40 back. you will sitll need to roll fenders and some camber but it'll look sick. i have 17x9+20 235/40 all around on my s14. just needed the rear rolled and that's it. s13 would stick out a bit more but def. can fit easily.

your wheel/tire to strut clearance wont change with a lack of motor, application of braking, or anything. thats just retarded to think so. i wont get into the details.

if you are looking at weak-*** 17x9 +35, AND you have to ask if they will fit your STRUTS, then you need two things:

coiloversgood wheels

and to those who are just throwing sizes/offsets out, they may or may not work with STRUTS...

struts suck, take up more room, and ride like poop. clearly they are not a good choice. replace them with real suspension

you guys are probably gonna say they suck but i like the sportmaxx 006. with the gunmetal

im jus tryin to find a good offset that wont affect my suspension clearance. and for those of you who can afford coils, good for you, i cant afford them so im goin with struts and springs for now.

I DONT HAVE 900$ FOR COILOVERS

they really arent my priority, i jus wanna lower my car.

i had a JDM 180sx with ONLY eibach springs and it rode just as good as coils, i know becuz i drove a Sil80 with coils.

i dont know much about offsets which is why i asked you guys.

well thanks, so 20mm is good? i need to see if i can find some cheap coils. anybody got some nice used ones??

for now im jus gonna run some eibach prolines 2.2 inch drop, until i get a ton of money for coils.

can you have a shop roll fenders for you? cuz i havent the slightest clue, ive seen the fender rollers you can buy.

Offset: equal to or less than +20 offset.

For width: 15 or 16 inch diameter, 8 inch wide at least. 17 and up, 9 inch wide at least.

Those may not be the best "rules" to follow, but they are pretty good guidelines in getting wheels for a 240.

^ ^ Listen to him

And if you're for whatever reason getting wheels with less than an 8'' width and an offset above 20, you're going to have to run spacers for it to hopefully clear.
