Definitely not gonna happen in '05 IF it happens. I doubt they'll make another RWD compact car.

That is what the 350Z if for. Base model will only run you $26G's, top-of-the-line Track is $37G's. Why would they produce a cheap vehicle that could compete with it? They want to keep sales up, and everyone would just buy the cheap car.

me? or him?

It's common sense that the skyline and fairlady compete with each other, they're almost the exact same car, under the same company, priced about equally.

well look at the cadilc LS V. that is coming out in 04'. Packing a corvette V8 block 400hp 398LBS. and is suppose to be around 27K. It's suppose to beable to take on the M3's as well. power wise it will win but handling wise, IDK. As far as a new 240 i highly doubt it. The 350 was made to compete with the 3 series no neccesarlly the M3.

We should get a new Sil damnit, Nissan knows how much the Silvia series is loved, they should either revive the S15 for American sales, or make a new S16 :(

does anyone know the reason why they stopped making the us spec versians? the s15 would be a nasty *** car and would make alot of sales.. i like the back.. looks like a solera a little

They stopped selling them in America because from what I understand sales were crappy on the late S14s. Honda craze was in full swing.

Yeah, the fact that the S14 was a victim of bad marketing, sold as a "chick car" kinda screwed things up. Damn, for reals tho, the S15 would sell so well if they would have had it here :(

i think nissan needs to wake up and start looking at the market. Subaru and Mitsubishi are owning nissan right now with their STI and EVO. They need something more than just the 350z and G35. Hopefully they will come out with something that can handle the competition.

btw i highly doubt they will make another 240sx. 350z is pretty much the replacement.

How do you figure Hado? I see way more Maximas, SE-Rs and ALtimas... even more 350z than I do WRX or Evo's hell I'v only seen one Evo driving around(I mean the real evo not the crappy one they pawned of the first few years here). To my understanding they are realzing the R35 here when it comes out within the next two years.

i doubt nissan would bring back the 240. although there is a moderate fan base, it would be too risky for them to release a car that flopped in the past just because a few magazines started to recognize their japanese brother and their domestic model... that is getting fame because people are swapping the us engine for a jap one.

i mean performance sedan wise, nissan doesnt really have much to compete with against the evo and wrx. Dont get me wrong, i am not saying that maxima and altima and sentras are not great sedans. But theres still noticable performance difference between the top of the line sport sedan from nissan and the evo&wrx. Nissan also doesnt have an AWD sport sedan. IT would be awesome if they realease the R35 here. I will always pick nissan over any other jap imports.

But i doubt if nissan released an S16 that it would be the $30,000 that those cars cost. I would think it would compete with tiburons, accords, etc. Put 12 grand into a Spec-V and see if you can handle a stock WRX

a lot of whats been said is true, even if they threw out a S16 or something, im sure we would get shafted again in one way or another. as for present competition, the 350 did replace the 240s, so its only chance to still do some damage around here would be to crank out enough power to deal with those cars but at a very cheap price... that would probly kill the 350z. if they come out with a 4 wheel drive car, it would have to be more expensive than the 350z. the Z is kinda in the way, ya see? it would rock if a new S-chassis would come out, but it wont be anytime soon i think. just my opinion...

i thought the 350z replaced the 300zx? well not the replacement but the predacessor? because the 350z is a Z car and so wasnt the 300zx so that makes more sense to me

The Z series is seperate from the Silvia line, they should be able to coincide, they have before. We want a Silvia, damnit!

it would be nice if it happened, but all marketing signs would point to no in this case. 240sx's were underappreciated and did not sell well in the USA, therefore they will most likely not attempt to revive them. I do think it could fit into their product lin in between the Sentra and 350z for sports cars though. It could be priced similarly to the Altima, but with a more sporty orientation as opposed to the family-oriented Altima. Heck they did it in the '90s with the 200sx, 240sx, Sentra, Altima, Maxima, and 300zx all in the same lineup, why not now?

Unfortunately that's just wishful thinking. I don't expect Nissan will be coming out with a new S chassis any time soon, but I will selcome it if it does arrive :D

Ya, but they days when manufacturers made multiple lines of cars are over. The 350Z in no way replaced the 240. There are really similarities other than the Nissan emblems and 2 doors. Id rather have a G35 sports coupe TT anyway.

If Nissan were to do a "S16", the problem would be that they would have to market it as a sporty coupe, competing with cars like the Celica, RSX, etc. Assuming they'd price the car's competitively, the new 240 would be priced a few grand lower than a base 350Z, so unless they were going to discontinue the lower end models of the 350, the cars would be priced awfully close together, not to mention the fact that the "S16" would have to be substantially less of a car than the 350, to keep the distance between the two. I want there to be such a thing as much as anyone else, but I just can't see it happening . . .

well I mean I am 100% sure they will NOT release a new 240 here.. but the 240sx 91 up are similar in power to an N/A 300zx Z32. (power to weight) so the new S16 wouldn't have to be too far away form a low end 350z

That's just the thing though, the 91+ 240's were so close in overall performance to the 300ZX for thousands less, that it hurt the Z's sales (which, no doubt, were more profitable). Companies learn from their mistakes, and regardless of how great both the S13/S14 and Z32 were, having both also hurt them both.

They don't even make the silvia in japan anymore. So I don't see an s16 coming out.
