in japan nissan was able to have the Fairlady Z (Z32), s14 Silvia, 180sx, and r33 GTR all at the same time, and they sold bunches of all of them.

with america coming into a sportscar crazy of sorts, i think there would be room for both. The would just have to knock off the low end 350z model lines. Then produce a QR25DE powered RWD coupe/hatch of sorts and sell it as a enconomy sports car.

Hell, BMW sells basically all difforent levels of sports cars and their sales are great.

But that was in Japan. ;-) While cars such as the 350Z, Evo, STI, etc may be finding plenty of buyers, how could Nissan justify spending R&D money on developing another RWD chassis to put a strong I4 engine in that will cost a little less than a base 350Z? If it came to a next generation 250SX for $18,000-22,000, or a 350Z for $26,000-28,000, which would you do? Which would Nissan do, especially considering that they would have to recoup any R&D costs on such a 250SX before any of the sales could be considered profit, not to mention possible lost profits on current 350Z's by people not purchasing them in anticipation of a 250SX. As an enthusiast, I would love to see a 240/250SX. But from a business standpoint, I just don't see it. :-)

Yeah, but they would have to keep with the modern Sil heritage (inline 4) except go bigger, and add forced induction <3

Heres a thought, they could just put the S13 chasis with the 180sx revamped looks... with the 3.5 engine outta the the modern cars.. hell then there is almost no R&D... with both a chasis and an engine both found to be legal here... in a Rear wheel drive car costing less than a 350z using a known platform!

ahh the dreams...

Nah, they would have to make it a smaller displacement engine to make it compete with the "econo-sports" genre or something with fuel consumption ;)

Thats why they slap that 2.5 out of the sentra se-r spec v in it. All they gotta do is get a transmission for it. Could be neat. Also a good alternative for those who want a sportier car than the sedan.

Yea that wouldnt be bad at all. A Spec-V engine with a little more hp. Put it in a certain coupe called the S16 and there you have it. I like this idea. BTW skwerel would this engine be turboed or have a turbo option?

I think this thread is just like the V35 GTR threads. A bunch of people ***** about there not being a GTR. Or how the Infiniti G35 isnt a real Skyline, yet it is the same as the V35 in Japan. If there were an S15/16 20 whatever, I would guess that 90% of the people *****ing would not buy it. There is performance out here. Nissan sells the damn Spec-V for what..... $18,000. You could spend a few grand more and get a WRX or spend a "few: grand more and get an STI or Evo. How much were S13's back in the day??

Aww come on Spec don't be such a grump we are just having fun /w what ifs. I think 240sx was around 20 grand. And if I wanted a WRX I wouldn't spend so much time on these Nissan FOrums...

I wasnt being grouchy...did it sound like I was??? I wasnt trying. I think we need more performance oriented sport compacts from Nissan. I would love the spec-v to be RWD or AWD. That is already on eof my favorite cars...I just cant afford it. I think a RWD compact would fit nicely between teh Spec-V and 350Z. If you ask me, they shouldnt even make the spec V. That is what the damn Altima is for. You would think that the sales of the WRX would show manufactureres that consumers are getting morte performance oriented AND want styling. Sure the V6 Altima is nice, but it screams groceries to me. As does my 2nd gen Altima. Oh well

I personally don't like the WRX. I did until I found out it runs 13 PSI stock. I mean I don't know what size turbo its on.. maybe its a very small turbo.. but I dunno. I think the EVO is a much nicer car.. and I think all of the turbo Nissan engines are better than both.

I like the WRX. I think they are pretty pimp. If I had a choice though, I would take a TTZ32:ylsuper

I am trying to sell my 240 now to get a 300 or another project. Z32's are just too pimp to ignore. I have been researching on the possibility of a RB25/26 swap. I mean my 240 is cool and semi fast but in the end as I quote a Z driver...it is still a 240 and I kinda feel that way now. LOL

Back on topic....

Yeah I was looking for a Z32 the whole time. I was doing a search for cars for sale and saw 240sx. I was like WTF is that. I had never heard of one until like Feb this year. I looked at it and it looked alright. RWD (I wanted to see what the fuss was). But even after the swap, it doesnt make me 100% happy, so I feel I should let it go to more useful hands. Someone who will care for it. And I can get a pimp Z32...:D SOMEONE BUY MY CAR DAMNIT. I have a trade offer for a Z32 but ol boy is SLACKING HARDCORE

I say lets not disappoint america lets put the supercharged 3.3l in the new 240's 210sx 210 signifing the HP of the car also add a 6sp transmission and give the cars looks of something like a stretched out sentra or 2 door altima

I don't know my idea for the 2.5 was simply that it is available and wouldd run about the same as the spec v. A 2 door altima would not impress me. It would remind me of a 2 door accord. Just like the sentra is built to compete with the civic. They could turbo the 2.5. That would be nice and I'm sure the rwd transmission could be made pretty simple. Any other exaust, hydraulic line issues could be fixed pretty easy. This would supply a nice quick rwd sportys car for nissan. Ah aint dreaming grand.

Nissan does need to come out with another RWD coupe though.

the sentra makes 175 crank hp and the 350Z makes 287 crank hp. If they turboed the QR25DE to about 220 crank hp, stuck it in a RWD platform, and sold it as a 250(insert letters here)/silvia/whateverthehelltheywanttocallit, it would fit very nicely into the nissan line up. They should either get rid of the sentra or the altima, because the 2.5 liter altima is the same as a sentra and a 3.5 liter altima is the same as a maxima, so it lowers the sales of all three of them.
