240SX No exhaust.

So me and A friend are arguing about the exhaust. He wants to take it off his 240SX and leave it like in the picture.If you catch what I'm talking about. I have told him that if he leaves it like that, the 240SX loses power, but he says it actually increases power.So what do you fellow Nico members think.

Ive been running my S13 with just a downpipe and a cat for a week now. It fell off and I haven't had a chance to fix it.

Its loud as hell.

when i wrecked mine we unbolted the exhaust and left the cat on for s**** and giggles.it was loud,didnt sound horrible.not my style though.i never took it out to see if it gained or lost any power though

Random question but it's kinda relevant so I'll ask it. Anyone know if an SR downpipe will fit in place of the only part that kid wants to keep? I was taking out my boosted KA and putting in an NA KA and happened to notice that both pieces look interchangable. Not that I'm going to rip out my exhaust to put it in since it's going on when go back to turbo, i was just wondering if they were the same length etc. Thanks.

My single cam sounded like a v8 with just the cat. It wasn't that loud, but loud enough to draw unwanted attention from pop=pos.

And since your in Cali, your friend will get faked by pop-pos quite frequently. Tell him to carry lubricant with him, if he does this.

Back pressure dude, my friend is running his FC with open headers (just finished putting the engine in another FC) and he can actually feel the difference from when it had pipes.

If you run open headers, your f***ing stupid. You'll spend more money in tickets/fines than you would actually buying a nice exhaust. On top of all this, you will look like a complete idiot with an obnoxiously loud car.

i had to drive like that for a day. it was pretty lulzy at first, but it got old extremely fast. and it felt a lot slower just moving in general lol. oh and as others have previously said, it gets retarded loud. and the backfiring gets annoying after you realize its not that cool when its happening under your car D:

the sr has a turbo which makes it more quiet than an n/a motor and the turbos don't really like back pressure.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I thought if you rip off your exhaust without tuning it you could bend your valves.I know this is true on motorcycles, but maybe car valves are burly enough to take it.Someone please drop some edumacation on my a**.

as far as the power issue, it will lose low end torque and gain maybe a few in the upper rpm range. it is really annoying and sounds terrible running right out underneath your seat like that. My 2 to 1 pipe on the factory manifold broke at the part where it steps to 1. drove it like that for a week or two until I finally had it welded back by my buddy. you definately get looks, none are good though.

i ran open header on my n/a sr and it was piss loud and i had no bottom end

i then ran 1.5 inch straight pipe on my n/a sr and left it on their for a day.took it off.PISS loud and no bottom end.

it will be too loud.unbearably loud.
