Alright I have a 1995 240sx Ka engine. Recently I have noticed a leak under the driver side hood. After looking under the car i saw an oily substance dripping from the steering boot and looking in from the hood it looks like the source is a hose located above the boot that im pretty sure has to do with power steering. I could be wrong I don't know much about cars, but if i were to replace this hose I would need to bleed the system correct? Also anyone have any idea how much a shop would charge for this?

All this make sense?

Thank you, Thomas Moore

Sounds like one of your hardlines is rotted out/split. You shouldn't have to bleed the system out after fixing it, because the pump will just pump the fluid around, until the bubble comes back to the resevoir... at which point it will raise itself to the top, and escape out.

Sounds like the high pressure power steering line is starting to leak. A shop should be able to tell you exactly which line it is.

To bleed the system, just run the car at idle while slowly turning the steering wheel back and forth.

Sounds like the hardline that attaches to the high pressure power steering line going to the back of the power steering pump. Think you could maybe take a picture of the area and point out what appears to be leaking? If it is the high pressure hose it is not too hard to replace and I happen to sell brand new replacement lines. If you want some more help shoot me an e-mail at [email protected].

Thanks mate.
