im about to turn 14 and i just got my first car. its a 1990 240sx hatch that i am planning on turning into a drift car. it dosent have a motor or transmisson. but it has a s##t load of parts in the trunk from motor mounts to the alternator. i have a bunch of ideas on what i would like the car to look like but cant choose. 18 or 19 inch wheels with a rounded tire and negative camber looks sick to me but so does the little xxr 002 wheels. so just give me some ideas on what i should do. can anyone tell me if i can post videos on here so u guys can see my car

I believe you can post links to videos, but no actual videos on this website. I wouldn't worry too much about the wheels, get the car running first.

Uhhhh... so you want to attempt to make your first car into a "drift car". Explain to me what you mean by drift car?

Drive a Camry, sell the 240sx. Your way too young and don't have the experience to drive a full on track car. Now im gonna go back to playing metal gear solid before someone bashes me on telling you what to do.

Give the kid a break, man. He's 14. I'm impressed with his knowledge and ambitions!

EDIT: LOL, sorry man! Just read your post.. Not bashing, just saying..

Anyways, good luck kid. Don't let it go to your head. Set a plan with small, attainable goals. Obviously, get the car running first. Then do maintenance (brakes, tires, etc). I'm sure you aren't just raking in the cash to go straight into a full track car build, so just keep your head on straight and it'll be fun!

Also, if it's your first and only car, do not make it into a track car that you drive on the street. Think of how many other places you'll need to drive to other than school - work, friend's houses, movies, mall, etc. You don't want the girls to think your car is too rough to ride in, do you? lol

/advice

Goodluck!

thanks man i swear to u that i know more about cars than that guy, but anyways i was thinking about starting out with a ka24det to get it running then put some coilovers on it or at least lowering springs. then work towards new wheels, tires, and brakes.

Yep you do know more about me, those Ka24deT sure are handy coming in our stock 240's. Yep I don't know how to drive stick, is it a new game? I know how to drive manual tho! Only reason I gave you crap is you come on here, asking us what you should do to your car.... Now its your car. You don't go on a message boards to ask what color shirt you should wear today do you? Plus if your so knowledgeable upon cars... why are you asking us? Seriously kid, GOOD LUCK thanks for making my insurance sky rocket. Bad night, took it out on you. Have fun drifting!

Oh yeah, P.S Drifting is a bit more complicated then pulling your e brake. So don't be so cocky buddy, you might end up in a tree. Ill also be awaiting upon your comment that you google searched.

I started at your age bud. I'm 16. My advice is READ READ READ. You sound like ignorant and obnoxious right now. You need to research your a** off and get some hands on experience. If you continue to post like you do, you'll get ripped a new one on here, and this is considered a nice forum.

Yeah, to reiterate, the "t" you put on the end of the de stands for turbo. As in what the KA never came with from the factory. I also think he might have a little more experience than you do, although it's obvious you know a good bit already.

ps - Please please please don't get sportmax wheels. UGH

No, you don't know anything chukiKID.

The first thing your car needs is a drivetrain. Start with that.

Ok then mr. wise guy. What's the difference between a transmission and a transaxle?

And can you name one car (not the GTR) that has a rear transaxle?

Pretty easy question in my opinion.

Learn from AZ89two4Tsx, he defiantly is impressive with what he knows for his age. Only reason he did that was from research and not making stupid posts. THO i'm gonna try and help you!I feel like a idiot for fighting with a 14 year old. How much money are you planning to spend. Is the chassis clean? No rust on the frame rails, body, wheel well... anywhere on the damn car. I know your not doing this on your own, who will be helping you? Are they somewhat skilled with cars? Its only a track car if its built for the track and only the track. So you plan on buying another car? Like Smitty said, the lady's like smooth quite rides.

Do you have a job? You have quite some dream here. Hope you find that ka24det... if you do. Can you tell me were you get them? You might want to go sr20det, I heard they come up premium before race wars or some bs.

Maybe explain your situation more. Like your a freshman or about to be one right? I honestly don't know but assume the answer is no, can you work a real job @ the age of 14 in Florida? How do you plan to fund your project?

I say get a KA24DE and get your car running. Motors are easy to pull. When you have more $ then go KA-T

Ideas:Front Strut barNismo/Stiffer motor mounts (solid for "track" car)Subframe spacers (or solid aluminium bushings since it's a "track" car)Full CageRacing SeatCoiloversAdjustable/Stronger Suspension peicesVLSD (or welded since it's "track") Or everyone will say a 1.5 or 2.0 diff

Theres ideas since you asked
