Mine are mounted exactly as you see in the first set of pics (that's my car).

I prefer it glitch's way - you can keep your rear seats (no longer used, but looks better than what I have right now) & it is much easier to put spare tires, etc in there since you have more space.

Your car came a long way dude. I really like the set up on yours better. Dont care about space back there.

It showed discontinued on that page.

But besides that I'd like to give a shot at building it myself. Do you happen to have the dimensions like bend angles and length of the rear hoop and would you be willing to atleast sell me the plans. I'm just a student and want to give it a go with 4130 Chrome Moly so that it will be stronger and lighter.

If not atleast tell me about how much piping you used and outter diameter I'm thinking 1.5"x .083 if I do it from Chrome Moly. since Chrome Moly is $$$$ I'll probably have to make a demo piece out of mild steel for test fitting

If you are building it and planning on doing track days or compete, I don't know if that material is even legal. the 1.5" tubing isn't legal for any 4 point roll bar from what I know.

If you are interested in the roll bar, just call them up - they were special order the last few ones (can't get them online) from what I've heard from other forum members.

Well thats kinda why I want to what they already used and the amount and the bend angles etc.

I'd like to simply make my own for practice and I might spend more than $600 in Chrome Moly Tubbing since its roughly 10x the cost of regular tubing

In terms of being legal it always tends to be since it is still a steel alloy it is far far stronger than steel I forget the actual numbers. And from what I've worked with alot harder to bend and cut. But thats also why I want it. You also have to weld it a special way. But since I can do all that I want to try out my skills.

Do you know what the legal size is. or better yet a link to the rule book pdf so I can build a cage to spec. I haven't seen any track events locally but it would be nice for when I got the rest of my car upto the level I want to compete that I built the cage right while I had access to the awesome school facilities.

I mean hell if I gotta design my own it doesn't look that hard I just wanted to save time.

The best thing would be a rule book(s) pdf so I can figure out what I need to do I can use a tape measure and find angles no big deal.

Chromoly, if it's legal, still needs to be a certain thickness. It's been a while since I've done the research. However, the size you plan definitely isn't legal in any kind of steel for a 4 point roll bar.

SCCA rule book is on scca.com; NASA, NHRA, etc have their rule books available either on their site or via searching the internet.

If you are trying to learn to weld & build your own roll bar, you should do your own calculations & measurements - the pictures in this thread & other threads should give you a pretty good idea already. Also, I don't feel comfortable sharing measurements of someone else's roll bar design without permission, especially if they are still offering the product.

Guess I didn't look in the right place I've looked on SCCA several times I'll go look again but I just seen a 6 point cage and that was the thickness they used but it was 1 5/8 pipe but also 6 point which is by nature more structure I was just kinda guessing.

I have no idea. And 4130 Chromoly I'm sure will be legal I'm not worried about that I just need to know size an thickness plus the dimensions relative to me like how many inches above the helmet soldiers etc.

as you'll read or have read in the scca book, requirements are different between 6 point roll cage & 4 point roll bar. I believe there may be even stricter requirements for solo club racing events.

you probably already know, but each organization has slightly different roll bar / roll cage requirements - from bar thickness, mounting locations, base plate size & thickness, etc. So you may end up building a cage/bar that is a little larger/thicker than the minimal spec - just verify w/ all the rule books before you start welding.

good luck.

Welding is cheap and easy

Buying the material is why I gotta watch haha. But yea I know what you mean thats kinda why I just wanted to save time and buy plans then modify it as needed guess I gotta do it the hard way

Its ok. just more practice I guess.

uhm, call them and ask before you jump to conclusions? it's been a special order item for a long time now since there wasn't much demand after I got one & a couple other people.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but befor i looked into a rollbar i was wondering if any larger guys ever tried one of these. Im 6' 3" and im thinking i may not fit in my car anymore with one. I need my seat in the full back position pretty much against the rear seats, but since all the cars posted have no back seat its hard for me to tell how far back the seat is. Im pretty sure im fine with head clearance because i have a good 3 inched of head room and ill probably get a bucket seat with low mount rails but i just dont wanna have scrunched up legs all day in my car.

Thanks in advanced for any info you can give me
Will

You just need to get a custom one made...

The way this one was made, it mounts right toward the front of the rear seats all the way up to where the soft-top headliner is.

For your case, you may need to have the roll bar mounted further back or extend even higher up - depending on your seating position, the seat you are using, what the roll bar clearance requirements are for your car for the racing organization you are running w/ are, etc.

If you currently have 3" of head clearance w/ the stock seat, you should have even more w/ a bucket seat if you get the correct rails or customize your rails. Personally, I'd get the seat you want first; that way, you can build the roll bar around the seat & your current driving position.
