yea i think if you took the mold from a coupe and matched up the lines and made "hooks" for the hardtop to bolt too then i think it might work but it would definately be a trial and error thing for sureeeee..... then when its all done you could make them out of carbon fiber and make millions!!! Muahahahahahahahahahahaha

you know thats a really creative idea. it would be something like the 86-89 targa supra. but the top would be hard to store if you had the coupe, not so for a hatch. either way it would require some $$$ to have it done. i would reckon the roof would have to be braced/strengthened among other modds.

I know there was a guy putting together a hardtop 240sx/corvette. It had a full vette rear and roof and a s13 front. I dont know what happen to the project. If you want a hardtop, Buy a coupe with a sunroof.

I'm not sure why everyone's ragging on this guy, it's a neat idea.

They make detachable hardtops for 3-series convertibles (at least E46 and earlier), and there were obviously coupe versions of those cars. Same with 911's.

Some convertible owners want a detachable hardtop for winter driving or just for appearance when they're not going to be putting the top down. Nothing wrong with that.

EXACTLY also you can make the hardtop a different color so when its on the car looks different....also it might get rid of the actual convertible part of the 240sx....never know what the possibilities of the hardtop could be and it would be sick to have one in carbon fiber and it might be expensive but totally worth it i think in the end!!!

If you were boost2love (orig join date 10/2007), then you should have contacted a Mod/Admin to have the password reset.

Also, I'd like to think if you've "been around" for years, you'd have posted this idea in the 240sx Convertible sub-forum, where you'd have learned this idea is somewhere between "in the works" and almost done.

Welcome back

One day, I'll have a hard top for my vert.

It will be awesome.

But first, I need boost, aero, paint, and wheels that don't fail like this thread does.
