240 sx rev problem

My 240sx revs to about 6200 then its drops down to about 3500-4000. it sounds like the fuel shuts off, but it doesnt do it everytime. Am I even in the right ballpark with fuel system?

Might be a fuel issue, when you have this rev problem, are you under load or just free RPMing the engine?

it is the 2.4 12 valve motor. it is stock and manual transmission
