Hey everyone!! It's 11:13pm here in Chi-Town and I'm tired as hell...But I was at my friendz house and read his new copy of Super Street. All of a sudden I was wrapped in a ball of ANGER! I couldn't help but notice that these "Import Mags" are featuring more of our beloved Nissans in them.

They are making our love for our cars, known to all the ricers out there!!! STOP THE INSANITY!!!

And I've also noticed some bootleg teens running around with APC/Toucan Industries garbage exhausts, with the almighty "FEILSIDE", "FOMEX", and "Fo-Luck" reproduced body kits on. HAHA!

The articles in the mags can be helpful techincally with installs and such, but I don't think all this coverage is necessary. I understand that their catching on to the drifting craze, but it should be kept under control.

Half the readers of Super Street think they can drift in their Civics (which is really in the SNOW with the Hand Brake Up - Pushing their 90hp family car engine until it blows to smithereenz). They're kool now rite?!

It kinda hurts thinking about the almighty SR20 becoming a coined term in the next fast and furious movie!

Maybe I'm getting too carried away. But, let me know what you all think...(I hope I'm not offending any SS Fans).

i still don't see why it's such a bad thing that the engine swap is becoming more popular. it;'s the natural course of information dissemination. the early adopters embraced the engine swap, and now the main portion of the market is catching up. it happens. i'm just sick of all this "SR's are crap because they're popular" or "stop trying to be different because you have an SR which makes you not different, but instead, you're a follower"

it makes me sick.

there was a huge flame war over on Club240 about the engine swap where one of the guys from Night7 racing bashed the SR and was supporting working on the KA instead. And I support whatever mod path someone chooses, but don't bash another mod path because it's not one you took.

me too dude, me too :(

but anyways, technically if your not the first one with anything you are a follower. So no matter what you do to a 240sx, you can be labeled as a poser, follower, loser, what ever people use to senslessly bash the SR nowadays.

The demand for the 240sx may be high right now, and this will bring the quantity demanded relatively high, as a result of the craze.

But riced out Mitsubhishi commercials and more cheap APC products made for Hondas, the demand for those will become high again, making the demand for 240sx close to where it was before. Mitsubishi, with their base Lancer, and Honda with their full line of cars, are not going to let their sales beaten by second hand Nissans.

What I am concerned with is the increasing accident rate for the 240sx. hell, that JDMRice guy crashed his 240sx. He contributed to putting a 240sx to the junkyard.

What good are aftermarket parts if there aren't enough 240sx to use them?

So many people crash their 240sx in the rain, making them more rarer than ever. People nowadays would even part out a repairable, straight body s14 just for its 5 lug hubs. People are also sending their 240sx to junkyards just because of a blown motor.

I don't think it's a bad thing either. I'm swapping in an s14 sr to be different but not exclusive. If other people have an sr that's awesome. I just want an s14 sr for my car because that's what comes in the car in Japan :D

i'm happy i have an SR in my car, even if it is a redtop. i think it's a fine engine and i enjoy meeting other people who have them in their cars. the engine is rare in my area, but for some reason that doesn't seem to phase people in thinking i'm a follower even though i got my car and engine before joining these forums. go figure

So true. There was a damn near perfect zenki s13 in a local yard. Blown engine. When I went back the other day it was sitting on the rotor because someone bought the steel wheel off the front right. So damn sad. They dais 850 for complete car, but I think 600 would buy it.

I Think it was last months impost tuner had a s13 fast back on the cover... im not worryed about it but all people have to do is the math to find out if your looking for speed, sporty, ect. the 240s your car... around here everyones got civics... 1.6 or less with APC stickers all over them (I MEAN ALL OVER THEM) (6+ Stickers)... and every week they meet up like a gang to challange the other side of town who all drive automatic Dodge neons.. with Fear this stickers on them (6+ stickers on them NO BS) so im not worryed about anything what goes on outside my city is out of sight out of mind...

btw, Every APC / fear this sticker you have adds 10 HP you know! just wanted to let you know...

i'm tired of hating the late commers, it takes too much effort.

Drop out of this thread and checkout the 240 general chat. there are threads DAILY about someone wrecking their 240 (not always their fault). Several of them are just becuase the owner cant seem to drive RWD.

I hate to see a good car destroyed, but the less of them their are, the more rare mine is. And i'll always need spare parts.

You also have to think that while the 240sx might be getting popular, their true purpose, meaning road racing, AutoX will never get played out due to the high cost and actual skill required to race.

It seems the only way 240sx gets played out is by people flossin' their 240sx around town and at the local street races, or having magizine smarts about the car. I think its just a fad that will die down soon when the next cool car thing comes out.

the only bad part of the gaining popularity in my eye is the increase in prices on everything, cars, mods, everything. I like how people think im a bad *** just cuz I have a 240 though

Even though the 240sx may be going mainstream, your average riceboy still wont understand a Nissan owner's state of mind. They don't understand the possibilities of a 240sx. If you don't like the car stock, you need to learn to appreciate what it could be.

plenty of imports are getting more popular like the fc, fd, wrx, evo, mr2 and so on. It's not just happening to the 240, just that it looks like alot of people are concerned about the 240 having the same image of under body lights, led lit up tail pipes and what not that many of the civics and integras are stereotyped to have nowadays. It's just the nature of things that are popularized in america. The "ricey" look is bound to hit the 240 because the maturing of the import racing scene and as the cars get more popular, so will the number of poseurs. It was bound to move from FF to FR/MR/AWD. I know it's already a bit of a concern for the fc, fd, and mr2's as my buddies complain about that too. But it also looks like there's not much that any of us can do to fight such social factors. Just make sure yours isn't one of those weak sauce cars with the all show and no go.

Says the guy with 5 posts... not a rag on you personally but it sure seems like alot of people come on this forum ragging so-called bandwagon jumpers like they are some sort of Nissan OG.

Either way, I don't really care if they are or aren't the next Honda bandwagon, I love them and I'll own mine regardless.

BTW, 3000 posts :) :ylsuper

It's such a weird attutide some of you guys in the USA have.

Here in Australia, every Nissan S14 and S15 has an SR20 turbo, and every S13 either comes with a CA18 or SR20, both turbo and NA.

SR20's are rarely swapped for anything else, other than the occasional RB20 or RB25.

I get the impression that it's a "If I can't have an SR20, them no-one else should have one" sort of thing from some people...
