drill a hole in the firewall using a step bit.clev wrote:Hi Guam; doing a search on this topic and all I've found so far is your unanswered post. I'm also installing an amp which calls for 8 gauge wire, directly from the battery with a 40 amp fuse. I have an '09 Rogue and cannot find a place to run the wire from the battery through the firewall. How did you wire your amp?
CLEV, you've already asked and received the answer to your question. There was no need to start a new thread to ask the same thing all over again.clev wrote:I just purchased an Alpine 50 watt RMS x 4 amplifier for a Pioneer HU in an '09 Rogue. For power, it calls for 8 gauge wire directly from the battery with a 40 amp fuse. I have the wire and the fuse but cannot find an access through the firewall. For anyone that has installed an amp, where did you hook up the power? How did you get through the firewall?
You would most likely need a line out converter to install any aftermarket audio to a stock headunit. That's what i had to do in my 14 Rogue. That kenwood looks very interesting. Are you planning to mount it under your seat?Jubmasterflex wrote:Haven't even gotten around to a formal introduction but had a query regarding the subwoofer installation. I recently purchased a powered subwoofer. I was wondering what may be required to install it to the basic (non-Bose) headunit of my 2015 SV.
Plan on dropping it at an Audio Install place next week to install along with my other aftermarket components, but just wanted to ensure the cost of work equates to the actual requirements.
Cheers!
Thanks, Leo. I saw that post while searching but ruled it out when he started dis-assembling the drivers' side of the engine compartment. For those that are still looking for a place to bring the power from the battery, I drilled beside of the steering link in the floor. There's a plastic cover around the link, on the left side of the gas pedal, that snaps off. I checked under the vehicle and then drilled at the two o'clock position. From there, it was simple to run the wire to the battery. I sealed the hole around the wire on both sides of the floor and ran the wire up behind the head unit. I had removed the top panel, head unit, and climate control unit, and the Alpine MPV-f300 amp fits behind the climate control unit with easy access for all wiring.Leo2005 wrote:Guys. Hey clev, clev wrote:I saw in this thread, as well as other searches, the use of a 'line convertor'. I'm not sure what that is; can someone explain? I've added amplifiers many times and they have always had 2 inputs; the speaker output wires from the head unit or RCA jacks; but both cannot be used at the same time. This time, I used the RCA's because the HU had RCA outputs. I'm checking on adding an amplifier to the stock HU in my truck that has no rca jacks and will wire them directly into the amp. So, what does a line convertor accomplish?
Great job, Guam! I had to do the exact same thing when wiring the power. It was a little tough. Do you have pics of the finished installation?Guam711 wrote:Update.
I finished the install this weekend to include:
-JL Audio MicroSub 8in
-NVX MVPA1 Amp
-PAC Line Out Converter
I will note that for us 2014/2015 owners there is a unused grommet/plug directly above the hood latch cable. I just pulled the plug out and cut a small hole in it to fit the power wire. From there i ran the power wire under all the plastic trim along the drivers side floor. I installed the line out converter behind the head unit tapping into the rear speaker wires coming out of the head unit. I tapped into the ignition wire on the head unit for the remote power on for the amplifier.
I think this will greatly benefit anyone trying to add a sub to their stock head unit. If you guys have any questions please feel free to ask.
Do you remember the wire colors you tapped into? Also were you able to just pop off the radio surround and pull the unit out after unbolting the sides?Guam711 wrote:Update.
