Has anyone experience a popping/grunting sound coming from there vehicle when the vehicle goes from drive to reserve or from park to reserve? If so, what did you do to fix the problem? Any help would be highly appreciated. I was told the motor mounts may have became weak and that's the reason why I'm hearing this. 2011 Infiniti M-56. 110k miles

When did you do your part transmission fluid change. I'm sure peeps are sick of me talking about Amsoil. I would do a drain and fill first and see what happens after that. I'm hoping the "Nectar of the Gods" takes car of the issue but if not then you need to investigate further.

I guess get it troubleshot first is best initially. The clunking sound for sure could be motor mounts or a trans mount.

If you haven't done the fluids do that as well.

Title revised to reflect topic. Duplicate posts deleted.

PRO TIP: Use The Correct Title. That means, make sure your title has the topic at hand. Don't title something: "I have a question" or "Small concern" or "HELP!". Instead title it: "Tire tpms question" or "Rear bumper paint issue". This will get people's attention and most likely garner an answer sooner.

Additional advice borrowed from the ROGUE Forum:

-4a. POST VIDEO CLIPS OF YOUR NOISES: If you ask a question regarding some noise, make sure to accompany your thread/post with a video with an AUDIBLE sound clip. We are not mind readers, and don't know how you differentiate between taps/bings/tangs/rattles, etc.

See if a second person can identify an approximate location of the sound. It may be a worn U-joint on the driveshaft. Or it may be a worn motor or transmission mount. Those are the most likely suspects.

Going to say it is probably the normal nissan/infiniti axle click that develops. Most vehicles with am independent rear suspension have a TSB that involves using Nissan Molykote grease to lube the half shafts where they are splined into the hub. My car has had the click since before 80K. It even clicks getting on and off the throttle in traffic. Never have worried about it since it is the same noise I have heard in Armadas and Pathfinders. When I get annoyed with the warped rear rotors enough to change them I will pack the splines with Molykote grease and see if it goes away.

My thought is that you shouldn't hear any grunting relating to the drivetrain mounts, I would expect it more from something that spins or slides against another as pointed to above.

If you want to eliminate the motor mounts for sure, it shouldn't be too hard to do at home. THIS THREAD in the M45 forum has some pointers on troubleshooting them.

Also, although bad motor mounts could clunk or thud when shifting to and from park, my experience is that RWD cars don't exhibit that as much as FWD. But you'll feel them when accelerating or decelerating aggressively.
