2011 EX35 TPMS Relearn

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi -

I just got a set of winter wheels/tires with TPMS sensors installed - after swapping out the wheels, my TPMS warning light came on. I have looked through the forums and read about the method to wire the TPMS interface plug to ground and then drive around with the wheels at specific pressures so the system can relearn the new wheels.

However, I have spent several hours over 3 nights looking for this TMPS interface plug, and I have nothing to show for it but some frustration. :)

I saw in some posts that the interface plug was near the ODB II connector, so I removed the entire panel below the steering wheel and followed all of the wires from the ODB II connector, but no TMPS interface plug around. I cut away some taped up bundles in a few places where it possibly could have been hiding, but no dice. I then read about some cars that have the plug above the fuse box, so I took off the paneling on the side by the fuse box and followed those wire bundles around, but again no TPMS plug could be found.

Most of the posts about this are being done with cars that seem to be older than 2011 - does anyone know if something changed with this model year? Or has anyone with a 2011 been able to locate the right plug?

Thanks so much for your help.

Hey, I have a 2010 but I did not believe our cars can be set to learn automatically the TPMS sensors without "programming" the new IDs into the ECU. I know some American cars can easily relearn the IDs by pressing a button. Not so with infinitis. If you search my "name" you will find my solution, which was basically buying programmable sensors and have them programmed with the same IDs as the OEMs. Good Luck

Thanks for the reply - unfortunately, I already purchased wheels/tires with sensors installed, and they are not the Orange sensors that can be programmed with the OEM IDs. For reference, this is the process that I was referring to in my initial post where someone found a way to force Inifnitis/Nissans to relearn the TPMS sensors on a new set of wheels -

Several people in other forums seem to reference this post and have success with the process; my big problem is that I cannot locate the TPMS interface plug anywhere in my vehicle.

Unfortunately, I think it's going to be bad news for you. I was going to look at the EX's 2011 FSM for you, but Nicoclub hasn't uploaded them here. I took a look at the 2011 G37 FSM instead since the vehicles are so similar and use a lot of the same architecture, systems and components.

The 2008-2010 EX has what they call a "tire pressure warning check switch", which is essentially the connector you've been looking for. When I checked the 2011 FSM for the G37, there is no mention of this "switch"/"connector" whatsoever. It appears that the 2011 G37 requires the use of the Nissan Consult-III computer in order to pair the TPMS sensors with the car. So by analogy, I have a very strong feeling that the 2011 EX is in the same boat and you'll probably have to see a dealership to get the TPMS working.

If there are any ways to do this without the Consult-III on the 2011's and newer models, I know that I haven't seen any.

The 2010 can be set to learn replacement sensors with different IDs. But as shown in the link posted by Reisen, the process isn't nearly as easy as "a push of a button" like in other cars :frown: .

I actually like your solution better because it's pretty much hassle free.

NJGuy - Thanks for the info...that's what I was afraid of - I also was looking for the service manuals and could only find the 2010, which I was using to try to find the interface plug in my car. I did not think they would remove the plug altogether, but apparently they did. :tisk: Since I don't really want to pay the dealership to have it reset twice a year, I guess my backup plan will be the electrical tape over the warning light. :)

If anyone else does happens to learn of something, please share...thanks!

Unfortunately I don't believe it'll work on a 2013. If being able to reset the TPMS system yourself matters to you that much, I'd recommend that you look into purchasing a reset tool.

A few of the EX owners here have had success with the ATEQ TPMS reset tool.
