2010 EX35 iPhone fix

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Us as well.
Since I only have the touch, and rarely use it, I wonder what changes I will see. I noticed some issues with Voice commands, but thought it was me and I don't recall exactly what/when they were.
I'll be getting the "fix" in early Sept since I live a bit from the dealer, so I'll be interested in hearing about the changes.

Just a quick question. I haven't received this from Inifniti yet. I wonder if they'll send to everyone or just those who contacted CS / dealer about the iphone/ipod issue w/ the car ?

I bet there is a "priority" mailing. Maybe you had it done already.
Check the version by selecting Info/Map Update

If your version software ends in a B the update takes maybe half an hour, if it is an a it might take up to an hour to complete. There are 3 dvds worth of data that need to be transferred (on the a) and a reboot that needs to take place.

If you are like me, and over protective of your car, you might want to turn the Bluetooth OFF in the SETTINGS menu before taking the car in to the dealer.

I am very curious to see how this effects the initial problems.

Bluetooth seems ok b/w an iPod Touch 3G and the factory system (bose/nav). But if I use the USB cable, the iPod touch will 'beep' once the cable is plugged in but the system (Bose/Nav) will not recognise the iPod Touch. It'll say something like check USB cable etc.... iPod Touch OS is running 4.0 OS. I'll chk on what version the stereo is running. But it's been frustrating to not able to get the USB cable connection working.

Has anyone gone back to OS3 on their iphone/pod?

We (dealers) have a recall software out for some of the bugs. But we do not have a list of what is updated.

Hey I have an IT question I bet some of you can help me with...

Do any of you know what the BT supported profile on the Infiniti V2 software. I am assuming it is 2.0+EDR. But it should be backwards compatible with as old as BT1.2 which should go all the way back to ~2005. I swear I saw somewhere that mentioned that but today when I really needed to settle a dispute at work earlier I could not find the answer. I know they support at least A2DP and maybe AVDTP, but other than that I cannot find any actual proof.

Infiniti uses Clarion radios, Clarion is a Bluetooth SIG member as far as I can tell, but Apple is not...

In researching this for work and the forum I have found that Infiniti is not the only one with connectivity issues since the rollout of IOS4. The guys in the M forum who have add on ipod systems might need to buy a security verification chip (~$35) if they want it to work.Acura is aparantly having some connectivity and verification issues as well.

They did the same thing with the new plug pinout...Surprise you have to buy something else to make you idevice work.

My BB connects and streams perfectly everytime :P

I'll keep y'all posted

There have been several CBBD (operating system software) updates that have been released for the models with the CF slot. However there are no tsbs or recalls for them, it is more of something that is done per request. But there is very little knowledge of these updates and they might not be warrantied (don't shoot the messenger please). There are not the types of new software bugs in the V1 software that the new version has, as most of those were resolved in 2007 when the software was new.

so CBBD update is what I need to ask for. I've asked for firmware updates several times and just got blank stares. Where could I find a changelog of the updates?

Are we talking CBBD or CDDB?

CDDB is the Gracenote compact disc database information that enables display of track information.

^ I had no idea... It is cddb and when the software came out for the ConsultIII there were only two types of updates available.

I have to say that that really sucks that it is only related to Gracenote, I really thought it might be part of the operating system. As it has been well established information sharing with new technology like this and BT are not something many companies are known for.

Thanks for the info do you have any more detailed information on that? I have only seen cddb mentioned on one Clarion website but nothing on Nissan related sites.

CDDB is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for OS/firmware updates that enhance functionality. I find it hard to believe that Zenrin would have written one release of the software and then not provisioned any updates.

What does Nissan/Infiniti call their software that is used for diagnostics?

I downloaded the .pdf and .exe program from here.

It works very well. Didn't know until recently that iTunes uses Gracenote too.

That is prime info, There have been several updates for that software over the past few years.

There are a few different things that can be updated from the same portal, on CF equipped models and apartently the naming software is one of them. That would be Gracenote sharing software (couch couch unlike apple), Bluetooth also shares firmware updates, as well as functional based Nav software (just like portable Garmin type devices) these are all delivered through the same interface located on the dealers Consult 3.

As far as I know the dealer is the only place to get these types of updates. I really have no idea if this would be considered warranty but Nav updates are very time consuming and is not covered.

Zenrin only makes the Navigation maps and it's direct operating software.

My understanding is that you'll lose all the settings. At least that's what my dealer indicated.

None of your settings should be lost.

The only thing that is in BOLD in the tsb is to turn the Bluetooth off. So that may cause a problem if it is forgotten, but its a simple fix.

My understanding is that the software is replaced. If that is the case, I've got to think that in essence a reset results. It's more than just a BT and Nav reload. No?

I don't know, but it's what I'm speculating with the limited info service mentioned. They haven't even done one yet so they may not be on target. I think I'd go with your comments though.

I had my system updated yesterday and absolutely none of my settings were lost. It took about 45 minutes to complete.

I have not noticed any differences, however I have a Google Nexus One Android phone so I was not having any problems prior to the update anyway. Good thing is that the update is quick and does not delete your settings.

Had mine done last week.

No settings were lost.

Did have to manually turn Bluetooth on though.

Eric- you really need to be careful with certain intellectual properties you may come across on certain Nissan sites that are not general access. The contents of these types of updates are often covered by several companies patent laws, cya.

If you want to read a good contract check out the new fx odometer one.
