How many Q's do we have with 200k+?

My ol' girl finally turned over 200,000 miles, still with the original transmission. I bought mine in 2000, with 80k for $10,000. Best 10k I've EVER spent on a car. I've done average maintenance, with oil changes every 4-5k, transmission flush every 30-35k, shocks, bushings, belts, hoses, suspension parts as needed. I've also replaced the alternator, fan blade and fuel pump (and it's ready again). Rehab'd the engine last year (new hoses, knock sensors, valve cover gaskets). She definitely needs a suspension rehab...I have the parts, all I need is some extra time.

The one thing I wish I could fix is the leather on the steering wheel. It's worn through on top and where I rest my left thumb.

I drive about 45 miles round trip to work each day and still have as much fun as I did when I bought my Q 6 years ago. I love it!

200k isn't rare after chain guide replacement..........300k is rarer as was our 455k company Q that went to the crusher.............305,709 miles. Just getting broken in good..........but staring to blue smoke for a second on cold first start until rings expand.

Do youthink that the ring wear would have bene less if you had used the stock airbox the whole time?

This post should be in the Q45 section. I'm about to join the club in a few hundred miles. Driving my truck right now waiting for an exhaust hanger so no mileage being racked up.

Of course, I blame my 60,000 miles of K&N use for the ring wear.....back when I was more ignorant than I am now.I had so many more problems {MAF and dirt in plenum} than I do since I went back no oem at 110,000 miles in 1997.

I've got at least 220K. Odometer takes long vacations so it only reads 170-something (I track manually with trip odometer).

Get a leather stitch-on wheel cover.

Anything is possible in the T3 Parking lot. When you are one with the Q, and understand how to tune them.

Approximately 220k on my 94 base model. Engine still goes strong with no oil burning or noises.

I try to take it to redline at least once whenever I drive the car. It is a shame not to. There is always someone out there who needs a beatdown from a Q45. Kinda makes their day.

I am currently running a water injection system with the goal of cleaning out the carbon deposits in the combustion chambers. Then I will......ahh, take care of this itch that I have had for a long time.

BTW, is that Q45tech tearing up his car in the above photo. How many miles did you lose with that little burnout? LOL.

Whoever that Q belongs to, it's a thing of beauty...

And smokey burnouts make me all warm and tingly!

340,000 miles..................................combined

(130,000 on Deb/210,000 on NAraku)

When the time comes, both will get a complete rebuild and will see another 300k each.

Definately not Dennis' Q... his is grey.

Here's a pic of Q1 back on 10/5/05... what a beautiful day Wish I could have done it at about 110MPH, but I was in town when it happened... poor planning on my part.

One we bought for $900.............needed some tender loving care. As you can see we fixed it. Just blowing the city driving out of it. Before tire replacement.

There is a video which is much more dramatic when the rear tires blew

Ty now has 3 Q's.........he's hooked as are 2 of the other techs.

I have to ask... what was the warning in the "info cluster" - "H-Rated Tires - Slow the hell down!" ?

how did you isolate that it was the rings vs. bad valve stem seals?

At 305k does it matter? Everything is worn and not like new or 100k.Time to get a backup engine ready over the next year. A little start up smoke doesn't bother me as long as there is none on highway acceleration.

Cold dry compression drop vs at temperature running compression.

Viton valve stem seals last a long time.

1992 Q45 with 203K. The factory alternator is humming and on its way out. They say the cost plus labor is $450.00. Kinda steep but I love this car.

But an oem alternator will last 10 years, another 150,000 miles vs after aftermarket .............that's not even $45 per year.

Gotta get use to spending $2,500-3,000 per year [$200-250 per month] or let it rot into a rampling wreck if you can keep it on the road OR do the labor yourself and almost halve the cost...............assumming you have all the tools and equipment.
