well....like many i have thought about this path many times...and I think that the following will get you there:

1st and foremost a standalone...microtech, wolf3d, new AEM, or on the cheap side Megasquirt w/megaspark... (this allows for excellent tunability via fuel maps and wideband o2 sensor, and allows you to ditch the obstructive maf)

1.5 Individual throttle bodies (really disregarded 'cuz of price although custom made don't seem too hard and I'm currently researching this alternative.)

2nd high comp pistons...I have not researched this much yet, but I don't see why 11.1:1 is'nt attainable with 91-93 octane... I mean the s2000 has this ratio (or close) and the EMS would help you pinpoint any problems and solutions.

3rd more aggressive cams...I like the set that pdm and jimwolf make.

4th port and polish...

5th balancing/blueprint

6th bolt-ons, pulleys, driveshaft, flywheel, lsd, header, exhaust, ...etc..

7th I don't think you'd be maxing them yet, but 370cc's and a 300zx or walbro fuel pump would prevent going lean.

8th oil cooler + bigger radiator + good oil (insurance purposes).

If you are however experiencing detonation, then maybe conversion to lpg could solve the problem w/some loss of hp.

Or there's always the carburator option.
