That's odd. My Infiniti dealership found service records for my car that were from a different Infiniti dealer across town. Far as I know, there is always a bit of gear searching on every 7 or 8 spd gearbox regardless of make. I'm not aware of any TSB for the 09 M's. Mine does it, but very rarely and only in heavy stop-and-go traffic jams. I chalk it up to the complexity of the computer attempting to match the throttle position, forward motion, and whichever gear it was in when you depressed the pedal. Seems if I am in traffic that speeds up and comes to a near stop over and over, the gear box may be coasting in 2nd gear after I slowed and when I get back on the pedal, I'm not going fast enough to stay in 2nd, so it clunks down into 1st.

Yes, I know it's strange that they cannot pull any service history from other Infiniti dealership. My guess they may have a different system. I'm glad it has only one recall and also glad to know that M35 7speed transmission does not have much of an issue compared to G37 I have read so far with the same engine and transmission.

They checked for recalls and there is one for the accelerator pedal, which is what carfax showed too.

Thanks.

There are plenty of us on this forum that have been able to obtain service history on our cars that were bought somewhere else and taken to a local dealer. The 1st oil change after I purchased my M was at my local dealer. Not only did the service writer give me a full history of the service records but the oil change/filter were FREE since it was my first time there!!

You may want to try a different service writer that works there or go to another dealer if possible.

Well, there is only one dealer nearby so when I take the car in for the recall and oil change, I will try to obtain the service history information.

I guess you'll just have to do the best you can with the dealer near you. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you take it to that dealer for an oil / filter change. My dealer doesn't stock Mobil 1 oil, so I bring my own and they charge me for the filter, the washer, and the service fee for about $30. The main reason I do that is because I feel they do a great job on the inspection of fluids, brakes, belt, etc. This way, you have a running report on what is needed and you can plan ahead for expensive items.

That is my approach too for the 7.5k mile checkups for the same reasons ... I buy my Mobil1 Synthetic 0W-40 from a local O-Reilly store for this and take it to the dealer.

On the in-between 3.75k mile mark, I take it to a local shop instead for a simple oil and filter change - reminding them to not touch anything else (like tire pressure ... I don't know what it is with these folks who think their simple pencil gauges are good!). I buy the OEM oil filter and copper crush washer from the dealer.

Infiniti service records are available at and dealer nation wide. I don't know why dealers try to pull stuff over on people, especially now with the Internet.

That is my thought too. Any Infiniti dealership can pull information they need for the vehicle. I will give one more try during the oil change and recall fix. If it doesn't work then I will put a good note during the survey fill out.

I have a 2010 QX56 as well and I take it to the same dealership for oil change and get the free multi-point inspection and wash as well. The service has been great with them except having trouble getting the service history for the car I'll be getting soon.

Per the service receipt for the 2010 QX56, it shows they use Mobil 1 oil.

Hmmm ... I would have thought they could get the service information from any Infiniti dealership. Their service systems are all centrally managed on servers at Infiniti US HQ in Southern California, as far as I know.

That is what I thought too. Also, I haven't got the car yet due unexpected delays with the bank and dealership. I'm hoping everything will clear out this week and have the car soon.

Definitely not true. My 2011 started life in FL, spent some time in CT, then made it to NY. I have the FULL history from the day it rolled off the factory floor in Japan. Your dealer is either lazy or just likes to lie.

I'm not sure how the last sentence "Your dealer is either lazy or just likes to lie" got in here. I do not remember typing this....strange!!!

I have just purchased a 2009 M35x with 98,000 miles on it from a local dealer. Are there any issues or gotchas to look out for?

I own a 2004 Avalon and 2000 Odyssey and have had no major problems or repairs with them over the past 10 years. Both are close to 200K miles. I hope to experience the same reliability with the Infiniti.

Finally, it is here. It came in last night and today I cleaned it all up. Everything looks good except the dashboard has some minor cracks. :-(

For the time being I ordered a dash cover, black brushed suede finish.

I don't have picture of the cracks, but in the last picture posted here, if you look closer you can see the cracks below the drive's side vent and on the arch of the cluster.

I'm thinking to try some carbon-fiber wrap material and stick it on the dash, just the visible area where the dash cover won't cover properly.

I don't see them in the pic. Unless they are way more noticeable in person, I wouldn't F with them.

Here is a DIY that I made when I re-covered my dash. The material I bought will match your dash and door panels perfectly!

^ congrats on the purchase and in viewing the pics you posted from PB, I can see at least two of the cracks, they appear to run horizontal. yea, that'd drive me a little crazy myself.

Did we ever figure out why some folks had issue with their dash on these cars, compared to others. Geographic location, or use of cleaner that dried it out??

Not true (hmmm ... well ... assuming this policy has not changed recently).

I have had Frontier Infiniti in San Jose pull the service history for a lease car that I bought from them in 1998 - majority of work in the early year was done in Southern California at an entirely different dealer.

Contact the Infiniti Customer Care folks and see if they can confirm that this is okay to do nowadays ...

I am taking it to the dealership this Saturday for the oil change and to do the recall for the accelerator pedal so will try again and see if they will give it to me or not. So far I like the car, very smooth and feels heavy. The only complain I have is the road noise is a little too high for me, thinking maybe to use some rubberized undercoating by the wheel wells, hope that will cut the road noise down. Also, will be upgrading the exhaust to Tanabe Medalion touring with megan mid-pipe some time next week or so.

So I called the local dealership about the service history and they said it is not available in their system but gave me the name of the dealership that have done the services and recommended me to call them to get the details.
