Do you have the synchronic anti-stall fitting on the bov? Without it on a car that runs a maf sensor it will cause a vacuum leak. I have one, if you want it pm me.

I think that might be it. At idle, air is coming out the end of the BOV and it idles high. I can cover the end of the BOV and the RPM drops down. Remove hand and the engine speeds back up and air comes back out. I got the instructions out and readup on "optional, sold separately" anti-stall valve kit. PM'd :bigthumb: If that does not work, I think Cam has a HKS laying around here somewhere...

Update

OK
Time to start with the drive shaft.

Ordered yoke for Z32 '96 300ZX turbo, and flange for '83 S130 280ZX turbo.

Image

Like a glove

Image

Image

Bottom yoke in transmission and back out 3/4".
Then I measured 22" from forward face of input flange on differential, to center of U-joint.

Image

Not the longest driveshaft  but that could be a good thing...now I'm off to Driveline 1 to get it welded up and balanced.

So you are using the stock driveshaft just modified with the s130 flange?

No, it has a Z32 yoke (fits RB25DET transmission) and an s130 flange.

I just got it back today.

I had Drive Line 1 put it together for me. It's all new. $379 total. Including paint and a balance.

Good quality Spicer 5-785X U-joints. 3" steel tubing. Super clean welds.

me-like-e :bigthumb: It should NOT be the weak link in the driveline.

I'm going to leave it stock for now. I need to put about 2K miles on it at first. Break in the clutch and get the brakes set up etc...
Then I am thinking weld it. I did not pay much for it and it should be ok for now.

Drive shaft is in, boot on top of transmission is on. It is the same as the S14 manual. P/N 32862-V5002.

I have been working on a few issues with the engine. I got the BOV sorted out with the help of Kouki Munster. The anti-stall kit worked out great. :dblthumb: I had a bad water temp sensor from speed hut. It was reading high when the sensor was touching ground. It had an internal short. Speed hut sent out a replacement :dblthumb: The engine is running really smooth at first, but loads up and starts to have a miss. I pulled the plugs and they are indicating running rich. I am going to replace them with a set of new plugs. I am also going to get a pressure gauge and check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

anyway...Having way too much fun...Looking forward to this weekend

I'm assuming you are running stock coil packs and the original coil pack harness? RB's run very hot and the coil packs frequently overheat and crack.. the harness that connects the coil packs to the ignitor chip is also notorious for shorting out. Consider those as potential issues for the high rpm miss.

you might want to at least address the pinion mount ont he diff, it doesn't take much power to tear the pinion mount in half, at the very least you need to make sure the limit strap si good, but a better idea would be to buy or build an RT style pinion mount

I have a solid front mount :bigthumb:

Update

I pulled and inspected the plugs, they were black and sooted up pretty good. I replaced them with a new set. Kind of hard to get to them. They sit under a cover plate and coil packs. Here is shot of coil packs going back on. The rear 3 plugs are still exposed.

Image

I ran and tested my fuel pressure, I was sitting at 60 PSI w/vacuum line disconnected and about 52 PSI all hooked up. That's way too high. I think my fuel pump is over powering my stock fuel pressure regulator so...

I went and got a Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator. I mounted it on the forward part of the fender for now. I might move it back on firewall later. Also pictured is my recently modified BOV. Set the regulator to 30 PSI w/vacuum line connected. It jumps up to about 40 PSI w/disconnected @ Idle (1000 RPM).

Image

Now it was running smooth and purring like a twin turbo kitten. Temp stays at about 170F. The idle has always been way too high. I cranked the down to 1000 RPM but the AAC valve is cranked all the way in. I used pliers to pinch off air regulator and that did not help. I also pinched off PCV hose and the idle dropped a bit. I Know the ITB's are closed and rigged properly. It must be getting air some place. :gotme I'll figure it out.
The data scan is a great tool to use. Everything looks normal. The O2 sensors bounce from one end to the other but I saw that on the SR as well.

Awesome that you got it running.

The o2 sensors should bounce back and forth. That is the engine continually adjusting to keep the AFRs at exactly 14.7. A good sensor will jump from about around .25 volts, up to around .75 volts and back. It should be switching every 2 seconds or so, though the refresh rate may not be fast enough to catch it.

If it moves slowly back and forth, then you may have a control issue, or a bad sensor.

Does your program allow you to read the long and short term fuel trims? That is the best way to check if your air leak is metered or not.

I have some coil packs from my rb20 that I know work good and an extra ignitor or two if you want to do some parts swapping.

I sent you a PM with my number give me a call when your free.

Where does the time go...
The last couple of weeks have been crazy. Thought I would update everybody on Betzy, unfortunately, I haven't been able to get to her. :frown:
Cams 240SX is on it's last legs. KA24DET engine is TOAST and needs to be replaced. He purchased a replacement engine that has a bad head gasket but it is low mileage. We are working on getting the new replacement engine fixed. He wants to get this engine swapped out and sell the 240SX. At about the same time...Evan's Honda needed some attention on the front brakes making some noise. It turned into a brake rotor / wheel hub bearing / front CV boot torn / axle change type of weekend, with lots of trips over to work to use the hydraulic press.

Image

Cam also picked up a his replacement ride... a 93 FD. :slap: I have no idea...plane and simple. Not a clue. Time to read up on rotary engines I guess.

Image

It's getting cold out and we had snow on the ground this morning. Must get the X-mas tree up this weekend...hope to get back on Betzy soon.
