I'm planning on installing a 2-3000W system but I've got a really stupid problem; I've looked everywhere under the hood and do not see a way to run the power wire from the battery to the trunk. I've checked under the car, around the firewall, the wheel well; all the usual places. Has anyone tried running a 0 or 1 gauge wire from the battery to the trunk on their 2007 G35 sedan? If so, how did you get past the firewall?

I've always managed to find somewhere to run the wiring in the past. But I'm a little more cautious when it comes to a 35K car than I have been with any of my previous cars.

As soon as I get that part figured out, I can start ordering equipment. Thanks in advance.

My 4-gauge is running on the drivers side of the car. The entry from the firewall is around the brake master cylinder. I think 1/0 would fit.

You're going to want an upgraded alternator to support that much power. I'm at my limit with 1800W now (only 1 sub amp), and I have a 1F Cap/Optima yellow. 3k would probably be too much...

Definitely let us know your progress! Also, check out the audio forum for specific answers.

...and if your interested in my setup-check it out. (I love to pimp my system )

Nice setup, I've never had a custom setup before. I change cars every year or two so I go with a generic sub box and mount the amp on the box so that I can easily move it between cars. Only problem is, each time I get a new car I want a better system, so it usually ends up gathering dust. I've got 3 complete systems now gathering dust in the corner.

I'm not sure about the firewall entry, noticed yours is an '05 coupe, under the hood of my '07 sedan, it looks like I couldn't get a needle and thread through the "space" around the master cylinder. The steering boot / master cylinder is always the first place I check, but this time it does not look possible.

Also, my battery is located on the passenger side, and I'm a bit leery of running amp wiring from one side of a hot engine bay to the other. All of my past cars had the battery conveniently located on the drivers side right in front of the firewall pass through.

Its looking like this may be the first car where I run the wires outside, to the back, and back in around the rear struts. Under the back seat there is a removable cover that I think I can use to get back in, but I'd much rather run the cable inside the car.

As far as power goes, I've already backed down from getting 2 Kicker S10X's and 2 KICKER KX 2500.1's to power them. The car would probably cut off when the bass hit. So I've lowered my sights to 1 KICKER KX 2500.1 and probably 1 SoloX 12". The amp should hold with a Optima Yellow Top and 10F cap. I ran a setup similar to this in my previous car and it had a smaller amp.

I had it installed by a pro, but I do know that the main power wire is run close to the windshield, to the drivers side. (it's separated by a heat shield, so it stays cool).

I can try and get some pics of where the wire goes into the cab of the car. I'm sure the differences between the 05 coupe and 07 sedan are slight in regards to generic placement of components.

i will post a pic of mine tonight for ya. i have 2x3000 watt system in my trunk. custom built by me. oh and the 'you should get a bigger alternator' comment....YOU DONT NEED IT. just get a 4 farad cap and you should be fine. i run 2, 3 farad caps, one yellow top battery. no dimming, no drain on battery. works great. plus i dont have to screw with the alt. oh, i build my own boxes and make my own systems. if you want me to make you a box- e-mail me an we can talk(or if you just want insight).
