I wouldn't go for it. I didn't find the Crossfires to be that great imo. Didn't have a lot of room the ones I've driven.

Its what makes a chrysler, a chrysler

But anyways, thats a good deal and thats a nice looking car. I dig the color a lot. You won't keep it very long anyway, so go for it!

If I don't pick this up, I don't really care to have another car payment. This would be a favor to a good friend.

The guy I sold my Cadillac to did $600 of work, including tint and OEM chrome wheels. [This is the before picture.] He put it on Craigslist and $2000 would put it back in my hands.4.9L V8 gets 26 mpg on the highway. Drives fine, has plenty of room. Reliable as a pet rock.

unless you have a rarity when it comes to cadillacs they are no where near as reliable as a pet rock. as soon as they get over 100k stuff starts breaking. i mean, my mommadukes has a 96, no idea how many miles, but one day i walk into the garage and it reeks of gasoline. look under the car, see drips, follow it and it turns out to be the fuel rail had cracked. this car has been nothing but problems for a while now. just my .02

and crossfires are uglier than a pontiac aztec.

Thinking about the mid-life Chrysler Jesda?

Well, even though it's a 230Kompressor, putting that badge on the front is a death sentence. I've owned enough of their products to know it will nickle-dime you to the definition of rage.

I've owned two Q45s, and one of them did a similar thing to me. Age happens. I dripped (and sometimes gushed) coolant and fuel all over town until I started replacing hoses, gaskets, and other cracked and old items.

As for the old 4.9 OHV V8, its faultlessly reliable, as is the 4T60 transmission its attached to. I met a guy whose 4.9L Deville hit 260k, and he drove it 2000 miles to attend a meet. I seriously regret selling my Seville and hope to buy it back in September. The guy I sold it to still has it waiting for me.

First-generation Northstars are a PITA, but there's a reason why I prefer the 4.9 when it comes to Cadillacs from that era.

It looks good on paper, but I'm convinced nothing good can come from chrysler. Add in the mercedes PITA to work on and expensive to fix factor, and you are signing up for some headaches if you plan to keep the car for any extended period of time.

Jesda, it's a Chrystler!

It's gross looking. I have never liked the style of the Crossfire. Don't do it man.

Do a 5 speed swap with KA transmission or VG transmission.

Do a front end swap with actual Benz.

Put on Eibach Pro springs and KYB GR-2 shocks.

Add some JDM side marker lights and Altezza tail lights.

I'm going to spray paint swastikas all over it and drive around Manhattan.

I usually have my mind made up from the beginning, but I post these threads in part because I wonder how the NICO crowd reacts, though in between the S13 drift kings with mismatched body panels there's always a few worthwhile people with good responses, which I've taken into consideration.

Its built by Karmann, a German coachbuilder contracted to put the sheetmetal on the SLK chassis. The point of concern isn't that its a Chrysler, the point of concern is that its a Mercedes-Benz, which means electronics and other gadgets are a point of concern. If it was an actual Chrysler, I'd be less worried. Thus the warranty -- its a necessity.

I do like the styling, and because of the supercharged AMG 3.2, 0-60 in 4.x sounds like fun, and the price is right. So it shall be done.

Hello,Though perhaps I should duck for saying this, the SRT6 will be a collectable in the future. I have driven AMG Benz's with the supercharged six and they are a blast. Aside from a really stiff ride, you got a sub five second to sixty car with low miles and a warranty for well under 20 grand. Not bad. And the Hurricane or TS should not cause too much damage hopefully.Cheers,ML

I say YAY simply because I've always liked the aesthetics of that car, and the supercharged 3.2 will make for a fun ride. Plus for the price, you can't touch it.

Promise yourself to sell it the day the warranty is up.

I can't tell if you're joking or daft. GR-2s are nothing beyond stock-level replacement shocks.

Jesda, the Crossfire is a work of rolling art. Excellent choice!

One day, when I can get one for $3,000, I'm stripping out the suck and putting an LS7 in one. Excellent.

despite Chrysler's best intentions, the car seems to be bought and driven mostly in ethnic low-income, high-crime neighborhoods. its what drug dealers buy their women. around here anyways.

is it any better in st. louis?

Honestly, I voted "Yay".

I voted this way because I've always been curious about the car and I'd love to hear some detailed long-term impressions without having to purchase one myself, because I'm not THAT curious.

I think it'd be fun.

BUT, I think you need to buy that Seville. If buying this Crossfire precludes you from purchasing the Seville, screw the Crossfire.

Don't feel too badly obligated to buy this thing. I mean, it's neat and it'll be lots of fun, but only buy it if you want it. You've taken over *how* many cars from your friend? He needs to stop buying cars, and maybe you not taking this one over will reinforce that.

Cliffs Notes:

BUY SEVILLE NO MATTER WHAT!

Maybe buy Crossfire too, but think long and hard about it.

Buy it now. Seriously. Just because the car itself flopped doesnt mean it isnt a great car. My family had a limited model vert for 3 years and we all loved it. We turned ours in with about 30k on the clock and zero problems. I give it a yay.

I like the body paint color other than that everything is a drawback. This dull aluminum-looking plastic is becoming the norm on a lot of vehicles nowadays. When used for small accent featuresbut for covering a large centre console, I think it just looks cheap and it succeeded in spoiling the whole interior, IMHO._______________________________Fixing my car isn't a burden, it's a hobby!
