Good to know all of this info since I am a newbie to the M45 area! So the car comes with synthetic oil stock right? And the K and N is a no-no. Anthing else I can be warned about? I also read the oil eating issue we have, and actually bought an extended waranty because of the issue. Any bolt ons for the car that will not mess with anything? CAI, Pullies, Headers? I hate to dig in to my new ride but if they help mileage ect I would like to upgrade now. Also...suggestiions on exhaust as we will be getting rid of emissions here in a short while. My buddy has an 03 M3 and I would like to be able to hang. Thanks for reading my blabber!Kyle

Sorry, there are no bolt ons for our cars. You can swap out the brakes and rear diff from a Z32 300ZXTT. Exhaust will need to be custom as well as any intake you might want, which would be pointless in my opinion. Good luck.

Welcome to NICO, Kyle!

No, the Infiniti recommendation is anything that is 5W-30 Energy-conserving and you can vary from that (like using a 10W-30 or 10W-40) depending on climate. Means you can use any oil you want really. But, many of us tend to like synthetics for the extra protection and less oil breakdown over use, that you can get, in general, with synthetic engine oil.

But you can use a good dino oil too (like Castrol GTX 5W-30, for example) and be just fine! In fact, to get a good initial seating of the rings, it is best to use dino oil for the first 10k miles or so before switching to a synthetic oil.

The key is frequent and regular oil and filter changes regardless of which oil is your personal preference!

That is correct. There are a bunch of older posts in the Infiniti Online Forum of NICO (links are on the right of this page) where the MAF issues are discussed. You can do a search to find some of these.

A good idea! I did the same, but not because I knew anything about the oil issue ... just that I like to keep my cars for long periods and would rather have the Infiniti folks fix any problems that do occur!

Unfortunately, no real add-ons (as mentioned above too). The car was simply not sold in enough quantities to make it worthwhile for the after-market tuners to develop products. Too much investment for too little potential return. Oh, well ...
