Does anyone have a factory Bose 6-disc radio sitting in the garage that they want to get rid of? I have a friend with a 01' Pathfinder who's 6-disc changer went out on. She's looking to keep the factory deck look.

I don't think you will find a taker on that. These have a tendency to conk out pretty regularly. Your best bet is to remove it and then have it repaired. There is a place on ebay that has a lot of good feedback and fixes them for ~$200 including the shipping.

Radio fix

On my 2001 QX4, the CD changer conked out, but the stereo and tape deck work OK. I bought an ipod and tape adapter for less than $200 and it hold more music than 6 discs do.

What are you looking to get for it? She really only needs the deck. Is it the deck with a 6-disc changer built into it?

the deck is two part i believe. i have not had a chance to take it out.

the top part is a tape player and radio and on the bottom is the cd changer.

i am not sure how much they go for. if can give me a reasonable offer you can have it.

this is coming out of a 2001 pathfinder le edition.

the bose double DIN stereo flat out sucks. anyone know of something that lets you keep the steering wheel controls and still add a aftermarket head unit?

If you have a decent newer HU it should have an aux. remote jack on the back (I know my Pioneer does). You can utilize that jack with an interface that lets you wire in your steering wheel controls. I can’t remember what they are called but any real sound shop (even Best Buy or Circuit City) should be able to get you one. They are between $75 and $100.

Do you have any pictures of the install?

I am thinking about getting an aftermarket HU, but I want to see what one look like in the stock location. It has kind of a funny shape.

Sorry Chris, I haven't actually done this... once you get into the steering wheel controls, bose adapters, antenna adapter, wiring kit and dash kit this install gets pretty expensive (over 200 just in parts without the HU) With that being said I think it is a better option than replacing/fixing the POS Infinity and Nissan used but it's just as expensive.

I think if you do some searching you will find some people with aftermarket HUs in Pathys and QX4s. Try either here or @ cardomain.com
