The tank is about 18 gallons.hocke230 wrote:How big is the tank - I'm in LA also wondering how bad it actually is thought it got 15-17 city driving? Is it only a 11-12 gallon tank?

I always use shell 93 all the time.M35 Sport wrote:The tank is 20 gallons. Are you guys using at least 91 octane? If you are using 87 or 89 the engine might get lower MPG.
21.4mpg is actually considered pretty good on mixing driving for the m35x. I struggle to get 13mpg on mix driving.myellen wrote:I have m35X, which should only get about 1MPG better than a M45. I use 87 octane and have a mix of country roads and city streets on my daily drive. I am getting 21.4MPG and nearly 400 miles per tank.
Wow, so drive until the car died (so it makes the full tank)? You know that is not good for the car.cnote wrote:I use premium unleaded and I get about 225 miles to a full tank on my M35.
You hit the nail on the head. This is how you get you real MPG. Also It will still vary car to car because different tire pressures and rolling resistances.M45Caliber wrote:It's impossible to compare "miles per tank" unless everyone is driving until they run out of gas. Some fill up when just below 1/4 (me) some wait to 1/8 and some wait until the light comes on. Plus I guarantee our guages are not exact. So . . . .
reset your trip meter when you fill up. Drive about 200 miles then refill and see how many gallons used. divide 200 (or whatever - 202 or 198...) by the gallons to refill and that's your REAL MPG. Be sure to use the same station and pump to avoid pressure and pump differences, and fill until it clicks off - don't top it off to begin with or when you refill.
In my 2003 M45, 40K miles, BG44K run through it every 5K miles, and I am averaging 17.6 MPG in mixed driving... and trust me I do NOT baby it when I drive it. I bought a honkin' V8 for a reason and it sure wasn't gas mileage.
Phoenix to San Diego and Back netted 22mpg for the trip; 90% interstates at 80+ MPH most of the way. I saw 100 a few times, just because... the devil made me do it.
Tires at 36psi, new air filter and Chevron Premium fuel.
Do you really think that I drive the car to it's completely empty?? I was simply calculating how may miles I do on a 1/4 tank and I added the difference. I never let my tank go below 1/4!!M45Runner wrote:

No, I was just messing with you - my point is to make sure when people say how many miles they get from a tank, it is truely a full tank instead of per fill up, which could be between 14 - 19 gallons. You answered my question in a cool way - I appreciate that.cnote wrote:
