EBay > all for buying car audio equipment.
Put it this way - I used to work at a major electronics store. Our employee discount was that we got anything at cost + 5%. Now, the tube TV's, the computers, cd's and other media are only maybe 1-5% higher than cost. Where they make their money is computer accessories, cell phones and especially cell accessories, and CAR AUDIO.
I paid $85 for a Cerwin Vega 12D4 that retails at $200, another $40 for a ported box that normally costs $85, and my head unit was about 40% off retail.
Off topic, I also paid roughly $1-$5 for car chargers, cases, and faceplates that normally cost consumers $20-$30.
The moral to this story is - you'll save a TON of money if you buy through someone that is selling at a much lower markup - like a lot of business on EBay. If you don't care about getting a service warranty you can save over half your money...
The flip side is, the service plans are excellent because for my company they'd replace the sub for damn near anything except obvious abuse... weathering/cracking of the cone, normal failure of the driver, etc, they'd replace the sub probably 99% of the time.
Each way has its pro's and con's, but I figured you should at least be informed of how much over cost you're paying at large electronics stores.
