I have a leak somewhere on my transmission

when I drive and stop the car I leave a couple drops of transmission fluid on the ground at the back where the driveshaft comes out of the transmission

initially I thought it was the rubber seal where the shaft coems out leaking but when the car is in the air and I wipe it clean and drive it back around the leak isnt coming from there. The fluid is primarily over the bunch of sensors underneath the end of the transmission (turbine revolution sensor harness and those other plugs)

soooo... where else is the leak coming from? I cant see where it is coming down the side of the transmission from the top but it is a bit tight up there

any help? any ideas?

thanks!

It's probably coming from the turbine revolution sensor, a not-rare issue with Y33s.

There are two ways to get at it - drop the transmission or bore a hole in the floor.

There are two revolution sensors on the transmission, at least on the G50. One on the front end for input, and one on the rear to measure output. With these leaks being near the back, I would suspect one of those first...

Yes, but if it is leaking from the connectors on the driver's side, which are toward the rear, then it can be verified by tracing the fluid that it is the turbine revolution sensor.

If it is leaking just a few drop per day WHO CARES! let it ! I would wait til transmission needs to be dropped for other reasons and correct it then-not worth the hassle or expense to drop transmission to stop a few drops on the pavement! All older cars ooze !!!!!

Mine don't, but I the bad turbine snesor. I remember Q45tech said something about transmission wear increasing if the turbine speed sensor is not sending the correct data. But it would be best to read his post as I am fuzzy on the details.

When you do repair it, be sure to replace the engine's rear main seal as it is inexpensive and you will have done all the labor.

Brian, your cars are just reaching puberty! all less than 100k right? My q is approaching 195k,no drops on floor, but visible wetness on transmission connectors-will take care of when trans needs to come out for another reason--like replacement!

The one that failed had about 30K on it and had been flushed. Shocks also leaked by 45K. Has about 60K now.
