Had a P0325 code and purchased a new knock sensor. I tried to follow the knock sensor online tutorial but found the EGRC solenoid (with the green connector) gets in the way of sticking your hand into the engine cavity in the 1996 models. I tried to remove the mounting nut for the EGRC solenoid but there is not room for my wenches or sockets to remove the nut. Removing the bracket the EGRC solenoid is mounted to is not a good option. I hate to have to pay $400 to have this repaired. In searching for help I found a Knock Sensor Relocation kit for the 1990-96 300ZX.http://www.yugobernie.com/techs/Det_Sensor/

Would it be possible to do the same on the Maxima? The cost of the knock sensor and the sub harness (PN 24078-30P00) would be much less than a dealer repair.

I would imagine it's possible, I just don't know how well it would work.

I have a 98 maxima, i changed out the knock sensor in July, the way i did it was, to remove the top of the airbox and the plastic air intake tube, then i got about 2 to 2.5 feet of extensions and put a swivel on the end then the socket, and i got the bolt to break loose on the top of the knock sensor, my max had just 1 wire going to the knock sensor. hope this helps.

Here is a thread on how to replace the KS. There is another link within the thread (motorvate) that shows images of the KS.

Here's a YouTube posting by "boredmder" which should also help you replace the KS.

there not all that hard bro i did mine in around 20 to 30 mins. it just matters on how big you hand is, or if you do it the long way and take off the upper intake manifold.
