scott (i figure u will respond since your the only 1 who does). I heard a ks takes anywhere from 20 minutes too 2 hours to change. i figure i will get a 12'' extention and go at it instead of takin the plenum off. i got big fat sausage hands so gettin at it is gonna be tough. you got any suggestions on procedure...i got that code 325 for the ks i figure the only way to pass inspections is change it.

I'm usually the first to respond because I have no life, lol.

coolhand did a great writeup on knock sensor replacement in this thread. zerothread?id=148066 But if you find you are unable to get at the sensor due to sausage fingers, try the instructions in the link in the fourth post of the thread.

It's really my pleasure to help; I'll be the first to admit I don't know it all, but I try to help where I can. The people and atmosphere is what drew me to NICO to begin with. I hope your stay here is as enjoyable as mine has been.

Look forward to seeing some pics of your car. Sucks to hear about the key mark. Don't forget to clay bar the entire car before polish and wax...that stuff does wonders!

Did you get that FSM downloaded ok?

I'm not really sure on the flush prices. Last time I did mine, I worked at a dealership that would let me use the equipment for free on the weekends...so all I had to do was purchase the fluid (approximately 12 quarts). I would estimate in the neighborhood of $150.

To change the fuel filter:1. Disconnect the fuel pump fuse.2. Crank/run the motor until it stalls.3. Disconnect the input and output hoses from the fuel filter (located on the firewall near the brake master cylinder).4. Replace the filter, making sure the directional flow (usually indicated by an arrow on the filter) is going the correct way.5. Tighten the hose clamps (if you have worm clamps).6. Replace the fuel pump fuse.7. Crank the motor in 10 second intervals (so you don't burn up the starter).8. Once the engine runs, check for leaks.9. Drink beer and pat yourself on the back.

Hi, Here is some advice, remove the vaccum control that sits just in front of the opening because is in the way (your hand may fit with it out and my 95 doesn't have it). Use the knock sensor to carry the bolt from the intake and the new knock sensor and a flexiable magnet to carry the bolt into the intake(be very very patient use and the magnet as a possible holder) hope this helps.

i was able to manuver my hand under the intake [cutting myself on the HG's of course] with a little 1/4 inch ratchet. std. socket, no extension.

i positioned the socket on the KS bolt, then wedged my hand in.

if you cant get your hand under the intake, its gonna much more difficult.
