Will a 1994 Clock fit in a 1991? Will it look better or worse than the original black one? What do you guys think?

It will absolutely fit. As for looks... I think that's a matter of taste. Infiniti used the gold clocks in the 1993 model year, which was still the same body style. Given that your car is IPQ and has the light interior, I think it would be a nice addition. I have a spare or two on my shelf, but decided against it since my car has the dark interior. Sort of thought the stealth look was fine for it.

The worst that can happen is that you install it and then go back to your old clock.

On my list of "projects I'll never get around to" - I would like to build a nice box for the clock and hook a 12V transformer to it... I think it could make an awesome desk clock

One day I hope to actually install the black faced clock I picked up. I have to say the gold faced one looks out of place with the dark interior .

Remove the four screws and take the front plate with the glass off. Replace it with the face from your current clock. (otherwise, you'll see a gold ring around the glass)...then .... Tint the glass before putting it on like I did here....

Don't know how the gold will look combined with the tint but anything will be better than how it looks with the grey interior.

Lino,Do it! I did on my '90 and it's my favorite mod (also the cheapest -$10).

Spent the other $9,000+ spent on parts on boring stuff like 11 injectors, trans rebuild, chain guides, KS and underplenum hoses, Tokicos, suspension stuff, fuel pump, etc, etc - the list goes on and on and on. About to put another $800 into a new A/C compressor.

Funny how I get the biggest kick out of this clock- just love how it looks in the dash. I just swapped the whole thing in. Just remember it is a motorized setting mechanism. If you try to turn the post like the manual '90-92 version it will break. It will look great with the IPQ and tan interior.

I'm confused. Isn't that a dark grey and black interior he has there? (I'm going by the pic)

Drew,You are correct, sir. Didn't notice Shamoo interior in his sig. One of my previous Qs was IPQ w/tan and that is a pretty common combo.

Still love the clock in my black dash/burgundy interior combo.

Maybe a few hours, to factor in extra time to be super carful with the dash parts.

The biggest trick for removing the dash bezel is removing those two large bolts that hold the steering column up. It'll allow it to drop a couple of inches so you don't snag it on the ignition switch.

All you have to do is remove the plastics on the steering wheel and slide the dash over it. Its not like the dashboard is made out of stained glass. That thing is like tupperware.

Yeah, but first you have to remove that little white plastic thingy sitting on top of the ignition which has a small metal arm sticking up. I think it contains a solenoid. You can't clear that without bending the plastic so much as to break it and you'll still cut up the cluster's dash surround's vinyl on the arm. That's unless you drop the steering column in which case, I'm still not sure you can clear it easily. Jesda, I honestly can't see this being done in 30 mins much less 20 mins. You have to basically pull up everything for that damn clock and I've done it a few times.

I just came back from a salvage yard today and found a car there that has a gold clock. In fact, they have 3 of them. I'm going to buy one to replace my broken black one that froze to death a few months back. The cars they had were from 1991 and up and all have the gold clock. Is there a year that's better than others or are all the clocks the same?

What do you mean that it's a motorized setting mechanism? How do you adjust it?

A slight turn of the knob adjusts the time, it's not like winding a watch or anything.

What a touch of class!

That has got to be one of my favorite things about my Q. The clock. Everyone that gets in the car says somthing about it too.

They came OEM From 93-96 - so the others were probably swapped by a previous owner. I would probably go with the one with the lowest mileage or car that shows the least water damage to that area.
