1994 Infiniti Q45 - Rev counter does not exceed 2000 rpm, car drives intermitent

I recently bought a 1994 Infiniti Q45 with 156k Miles. Changed spark plugs. Car starts alright but hesitates to move. Rev does not exceed 2000 rpm. Would drive and suddenly will not accelerate (stalls). Would appreciate if anyone has come across such a problem before. Nothing on the dash is abnormal. The gears all shift perfectly. I have changed the spark plugs and the fuel filter with no improvement. I am guessing it could be the fuel pump but before delving into this, which may or may not be the problem, thought I should seek for suggestions from this noble forum.Thanks so much for your time.

I would test the fuel pressure and ohm each injector. How did the spark plugs look? does it idle rough? Q45 fuel pumps are a PITA compared to other Nissans/

Dr. T, you may have more response in the infiniti online mechanic.what is the fuel pressure at idle, 2000, and when you try to go above 2000?I would look for ECU codes (a bad CAS has a failsafe that won't allow over 3000rpm). might also check and clean the MAF/connector.

Thanks so much for your contribution.The spark plugs were changed and look good. I do not know how to check the fuel pressure other than see how well it spouts.Car idles for a while normally and after a while it cuts out. Nothing happens when when I attempt revving beyond 2000rpm.

Thanks. I have not checked the fuel pressure at 2000rpm, do not know how. Beyong 2000rpm, nothing happens. While the car idles pretty good, after a while, say 3-5 minutes, it cuts out. Most frustrating.

You install a T junction after the fuel filter with a gauge on the leg.

here is an example of how i did a fuel pressure gauge. some other blokes have installed a pressure transducer with a digital display in the cockpit. the method in the picture will suffice for what you need to find out.
