This thread has given me the bright idea to put Porsche 911 head lights on the MG. Do you think it'll work?

ok, lets look at this from another angle.

maybe think about getting some J30 lights and doing a retrofit with the projectors only.

i.e. take the J30 lights apart, remove the projectors, take your lights apart, and custom fab the projectors into your stock headlights.

here's a similar scenario with my maxima. i had a 95 maxima and i wanted projectors. without paying a lot of money, i acquired some toyota celica headlights. since they would not fit in my headlight housing area, i did a retrofit.

Just click here to see what i mean. there are ample pics.

if you have further questions about the retro, just let me know.

im sorry but F bmw!!! if you want a car with a bmw look... go buy one! don’t mess with the Q just convert it to a president and have others try to make their car into a Q. I hate the angel eye or demon eyes because they burn out so early even if its oem. my friend put it on his civic hatch bubble and while he had the whole type R conversion and he ruined the look with the halo lights so if a bmw look runes a civic please let lord have its mercy on your Q!!! But hey again this is all opinion =]

I tried to read this post and my eyes couldn't keep up with the run-on sentences.

Personally, I think lasoyafan's E39 mod turned out quite well.

^^What's that mean? Convert the Q into a President and back again?

Wow. Never realized that red Q was a Q. Wow. Those E46 looks are sick. How did he get them to look so OEM? That's amazing.

Gammer, those lights look great. They don't look out of place on the Q and are a little more stylish than stock. I wonder how much time/effort to get those on.

I would. But seeing your terrible grammar, atrocious punctuation, and brutal butchering of the written English language is quite irksome.

Would it kill you to not type how you speak?

Its just a good courtesy to type as good as you can so that people can read it well. It just helps people understand you better.

Think of it as someone that is trying to speak to you with english as their second language and you can barely make out a word... you can't really help them out or understand what they want and it just tends to get a bit annoying after a while.

good news I just found out that the headlight bulbs match for both q45s and j30 headlights so the only problem is installation.

But the matter wasn't about bulbs. It was getting the actual J30 lamp in the Q45.

Hey ppl. I have Two Used J30 Headlights in my garage, since the aiming part is broken. If you want the projectors, email me @ [email protected] Il send the headlights for about $20 each, not including shipping.

hey can the j30 headlights be shaved/cut just wondering cause I have yet to try to fit j30 headlights on my car but there is a pretty strong argument against the j30 headlights no fitting.

Its not an argument, they simply do not fit correctly in a Q45.

You can modify them by adding material to the exterior part of the casing until it fills in the gaps but it will still look silly.

(Kind of like wearing sunglasses with lenses the size of a dime, when they need to be the size of a silver dollar.)

The best thing to do, if you're set on J30 lamps, is to gut the J30 casing and graft the internals into the Q45 headlamp casings.

I'm still considering this myself, but only because I'm looking at converting my lamps over to HID, and the guts of the J30 lamps are metal.

Its not easy, but with enough time, patience, and determination anything is possible.

Here are what the metal casings from the J30 headlamps look like.

And, yes, I do have a problem standing perfectly still at 3am.

i found the j30 headlights i bought the pair for a cheap 80 bucks and they are smaller than my 91 q45 headlights so thats good so all i have to do is fill the space which is simple I will post pics of finished master piece.
