Well, she was running about 2 weeks ago, then I took the 240sx to valvoline and got the fuel injector cleaner and engine kleen flush service done. After this, idle improved immediately, but when i tried to start it up the next day, the fuel pump had died. I replaced it and the car still won't run. It'll crank over and sputter and ALMOST start but it wont finish. I'm going to check the fuel pressure soon, but I'm suspecting a clogged injector or four because prior to getting the car running it had been sitting for more than a year. Either clogged injectors or a malfunctional Fuel pressure regulator? I've replaced the fuel filter also.Any thoughts/concerns appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Ok, I guess I should be checking the distributor and cap also? I remember trying to check my distributor timing... It's unclear to me as to how to 'advance' or 'retard' the distributor. Do i have to take it out to do this? There is a fair amount of play i can turn the distributor rotor about 8 degrees w/ my hand...

Here's a procedure for setting up the distributor timing on a DOHC motor:Fully warm up the engine. Shut engine off. Disconnect the TPS harness connector; it's located on the passenger's side of the engine just above the throttle assembly. Attach timing light to #1 plug wire. Start engine; the OEM timing should be 20 degrees BTDC. There are two bolts that attach the distributor to the block; one's on top and the other one is on the side. Loosen both bolts and turn the distributor slowly while watching the timing marks on the pulley with the timing light. Stop the engine. Reconnect the TPS harness connector. Start engine. That's all there's to it.

Here's what the timing marks are on the pulley:

-5 0 5 10 15 20 | | | | | |

Zero mark should be painted red.
