Usually to get it started, you would need to bypass the inhibiter switch. I haven't done it on a Q yet, but I've done it on many 240sx's, a Mazda MX-6, and an Integra. If you have the FSM, it will help you alot. Usually the main things you need are to close the loop for the inhibiter switch circuit (because as you know the inhibiter switch makes it so it only starts in Park or Neutral), and find the wire for the back-up light switch (you should be able to trace that off the AT harness).
