My 240 is about 3 seconds slower in a quarter mile than my Sunfire and my Sunfire beat an H22 Prelude with intake and exhaust by 1 or 2 lengths so it is safe to say that you will get destroyed at race wars.

Yeah man, that extra 15HP in the dual cam makes it a real monster.

its very noticable imo

sohc are basically for scrap, or people build them to prove something, maybe lacking in the pen15 area?

My sohc isn't THAT bad, imo. I just don't intentionally go around trying to race people. It sounds decent, but that's about it. But as I said, it suffices.

You might get a better launch because you're RWD unless he really knows his shxt, but he's going to destroy you.

Especially from a roll. For what they are, from like 40-120, Preludes are fast cars. This is why they're such great road-trip rides.

I find that hard to believe. I've ran a 98 Prelude with basic bolt ons in my old S14 with a stock S13 SR and in the same situation as yours. This was on a hot CA summer day also and my S14 still pulled out by about 2 car lengths.

But to the OP, your SOHC will get raped by that prelude. My old SOHC S13 was barely able to beat a 90 Accord.

4th gen prelude vtec is a real low 15 sec car in stock form... the ka sohc is what mid to high 16s?? when i had my boosted lude (4th gen h23), my buddy had one at the same time. his was the vtec model with bolt ons and managed a 14.7. not bad. this was when i was in high school so this was a loooong time ago. even the si lude will eat up a stock 240. i managed a 15.5 @ 89 when mine was stock.

advance timing, remove a/c, remove powersteering, take out the cat, take out clutch fan, and stick an electric in there. remove all excess weight (yes, all of it), use some grippy good rear tires.and your car will suprise you, still will most likely not have much for him in the top end, end of 4th he'll be moving away from you. but itll be fun.

I just remembered. I got dusted by this really cute girl back in hs. I was driving my 89 SOHC 240 and she was in a 91 Prelude SI. It wasn't even a race.

Is that an auto 08 lancer? cause I find it hard to belive, by 4 car lengths. Or maybe that driver fell asleep on the wheel, or you got some really hot girl standing next to him and he is not paying attention to the tree.

my friend has the last body style lude (not the type sh though) and when i bought my 240 vert, we raced down the 1/4. so i had a dohc auto vert and he had an auto h22 lol. he won by about 2 car lengths each time, we were dead even til i hit 3rd gear and he was still revving out 2nd, thats when he past me every time. they redline much higher. hope that helps give you a better image of a pathetic race lol. it's just for s***s n giggles

because it is non vtec maybe... it will most likely just come down to shifts.
