What plans do you have for the truck? Your post makes me think you will put the diesel engine in the truck, but how well does it run?

The diesel motor runs great. I fired it up on the front clip and ran it for a while. just needs some new coolant hoses.

Got the bed off this morning and started cleaning up the frame rails... spent 13 hours today grinding and cutting off bed mounts.

Image

Had 2 gallons of high gloss red paint donated to my cause, and 2 gallons of high gloss black as well as epoxy primer and all the other stuff I'll need to paint this thing.

Where I quit today:

Its a 10,000 square foot shop... pretty nice.

We race ARCA so we basically follow wherever NASCAR goes. We run anything from 2005 Cup cars with 2007 bodywork all the way up to 2010 Roush Nationwide cars.

The stock open 4.375 R180 differential(would be great for autocross or lower speed road racing courses for a 240Z, probably going into my parts collection)

a bit more progress and a peek into our fab shop

Also found and ordered an old Nissan manual on rebuilding/shimming the transfer case... Old Nissan manuals like that are hard to find.

Test fit the diesel motor and looks like motor mounts are 1 3/4" further forward than the gas motor, so I'll be doing those next time I get to work on the truck...

Acquired a decently built Hi-steer Waggy Dana 44 with aussie locker.

(wheel has too much backspace and hits the stock steering arm, hence the funky camber)

I still have to do all the front suspension mounting, but the majority of the chassis is done and will just have to do touchup on the areas to be welded.

I decided on a paint scheme... and it is the same scheme I had on my 260Z, but never finished it and it was just Rustoleum...and I may paint the hood red.
Got a pinstriper who is going to do some silver pinstripe between the two colors as well.

Old school pics from 2006 of my gutted and LOUD 260Z

Started sanding some today with an air powered DA sander and 180 grit just to find out how BAD the roof damage is (farm truck, carried ladders leaning against the roof)
Image

Looks like it should all be able to be filled in and re-contour'd with finishing putty. Going to apply seam sealer in the drip rails since the factory sealer is long gone.

Hit it with some flat black just to keep it from flash rusting.
